Micro aggressions
So, was watching unbreakable kimmy and there was a little college arc were kids were slinging around the words micro aggression rather liberally.

I've heard people use the terms micro expression and micro aggression over my life for some odd things (mostly to call someone racist) and decided it was time I actually looked micro aggression up.

Seems it is indeed meant as a way to label racist actions but like most things its become OVER used.

For instance, people say 'man' or 'dude' is a micro aggression.
Sure, something more neutral would probably be better (even before wokism was so popular, Ive often prefered gender neutral terminology).
however, it is not at all accurate to call something like refering to people as 'guys' to be a micro aggression. And I will even go so far as to say 'ladies' IS a micro aggression.

To say guys ia not an assumption that you are interacting or indicating you are interacting with men.... its actually intended to be a fluid form gender neutral term.

where as often times people say 'ladies' to a crowd either to specifically address the women, ignoring any men present, in some sexual or romantic interest... or to belittle the men you are addressing in some crass idea that women are overall lesser then men even if its meant to be used endearingly.

even considering social conditioning, saying things like 'people' or 'everyone' or the such can feel less fluid or more cumbersome overall.
nevermind it can lack nuance, people and everyone can refer to ALL those around you where as 'guys' is often understood to be a less formal... targeted;;; reference to those you are more familiar with.

there may be a chance language is structured this way as a benchmark of control from 'the patriarchy' but its definitely not a micro aggression.

Everything is a microaggression, it;s called having no control over yourself and being intellectually inferior.

Purty much.

i love Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt! It's a great show.

Microaggressions are the everyday verbal, nonverbal, and environmental slights, snubs, or insults, whether intentional or unintentional, that communicate hostile, derogatory, or negative messages to target persons based solely upon their marginalized group membership.

It's like a white/euro american asking a native american, "Where are you from?" As though they're from another country.

Those things can really get under people's skin.

That's their problem for having a chip on the shoulder and thinking everyone is them. Narcissism.

You did it again.

Yet here you are, refusing to grow. You've put your fingers in your ears and refuse to listen, or even discuss it, eagerly agreeing with anything that keeps you feeling in the clear. I believe a large part of growth is looking inwards, keeping your ego in check and acknowledging that you probably do some things you don't want to believe aren't very nice, and actually trying to address those things and be better instead of getting overtly defensive about them and claiming they don't exist, or even calling people narcissists for not liking the things you do.

Microaggressions is a fabrication by people who want to justify themselves becoming aggressive over even the smallest negatively perceived remark.

Can just as easily say that people who deny the existence of microaggressions are only doing so to justify their poor behaviour towards others.

off topic to my off topic.... topic.... but I will allow it because youve clearly been building up to this (respect that) and are respectfully trying to encourage growth and civil community.

It means people who take everything personally needs to grow.

Something is either aggressive, passive-aggressive, or it's passive. There is no "micro-aggression." It doesn't exist as a societal concept, it's a political dog-call.

Where it came from, God only knows, probably Tumblr; but I don't really care if it came from the ancient Greeks. You don't want to be heard using the term.

True enough. You have to quietly undermine the terrain it stands on, or rework the broader ecology to not offer so many affordances to it. Then it's "self extincting".

Micro-aggressions are made up and don’t exist.

I think the old term for this was "polite conversation" where discourse showed inherent respect and an avoidance of any antagonistic language.

Honestly never heard the term micro aggression before.. but I avoid the brainwashing society

I don't really care personally how people say things... what it comes down to is being aware and intent to do harm. Ignorance isn't a sin, nor should it be punished.

Lol what the hell am I reading? This is some serious left-wing sh*t.

I don't have time to worry about offending you, snowflake. If you're offended, well, tough t*ts. Deal with it.

Well....

Looks like OP was so worried about it they did Micro aggressions themselves and got banned.

Hypocrisy... eventually it backfires on them all...

Why does being unpleasant and disrespectful to others go hand in hand with being right wing?
