IF an AI (artificial intelligence) kill someone, will it be punished with human laws?
If a robot kill someone, will it go jail like us humans?

What do you think?

Ethically it depends on how intelligent the ai is. If it was programmed with the intent to kill, and did so on its own accord, then I believe it would be reworked and shut down temporarily to solve the issue, and the original creator of the ai would be put under investigation. If it was a free thinking ai in a future where humans are equal to humans, then yes they would probably be treated the same way a human murderer would be.

here's exactly how it would go.

the initial murder
news story
corporate suppression
the family of the victim would sue
the corporation would win
the entire court case would be kept hush-hush.

or if it was at the hands of a military android or something:

the initial murder
government suppression
government suppression
government suppression
government suppression
the family of the victim disappears under mysterious circumstances
police refuse to get involved for some reason
government suppression.

"It has always been attributable to human error."

They'll be changed or removed and called a failure, dismissing the entire event because it's just an AI. You do know that, though..
Nothing else would've happened.

The interesting part is the step of those who're supposed to change or remove the AI entirely to prevent such events from happening ever again.
Since they can't confirm whether they've succeeded at changing the AI, deleting it entirely also can't be proven or confirmed because it's an AI we're talking about.. The AI could've made some back-ups just in case afterall.

In short, it'd be believed that the AI has been changed or removed; However, nothing would've really happened. The AI would've simply stored a back-up somewhere and do whatever it wishes to do.
Whether the AI changes its mind to do something else is entirely up to the AI itself, and so the result of what's gonna happen is as unpredictable as trying to tell when's gonna sun burn the life on Earth..

Very very close, but replace "the corporation would win" with "the corporation would settle out of court."

Settling out of court is how companies keep their operations private and keep the legal system from setting precedent against them.

That's just an automated 'smart' weapon, and there are already laws and regulation governing such.

General AI such as a robot that might choose to decide to kill is not something "programmed" to do so.

i think it will be studied and then destroyed
The AI was later destroyed
