Was the atomic bombing of Japan justified?

Yes it totally ended the WW2, but was it worth it? Yes it cost a lot of lives of innocent people. Japan wouldn't have given up without it. What do you think?

Dropping a mass destruction device with hazardous effects lasting decades on millions of civilians is a war crime. It was nothing but ruthless massacre of innocent people.

We'd have been fighting schoolkids with bombs strapped to them if we'd invaded the home islands. It wouldn't have been fun for anyone.

Two and done isn't exactly nice and neat but it worked. Besides, the firebombings of Tokyo (and Dresden earlier) killed more people than either bomb, and if the bombs hadn't worked that's what was coming before the beach landings.

Yes, they saved troops by doing so. If you go by their previus landing on their captured island. And since we are talking about main island with the most diehard troops left to defend.... it could prolong the war and even be devided just like germany with USSR on one side and USA on the other.

Point being, there is no good in killing. I'm neither against it, nor for it. I could name reasons to be both. I wasn't referring to America as good either, rather in general; the reality of the world.

It's a tragedy. That's what I truly think.

Well, in this situation Japan war crimes are were on the same level as germany or russia, so well, i dont think that they would easily give up.
I dont hate Japan, i actually respect them, but during ww2 they did unspeakable things, and even thought i feel bad for people who died in atomic bomb attack, still, you cant undone what happened

I am not denying what Japan's army did. But you are not in a position to condemn them for acts you are repeating. (Not you personally, of course)

That may not be true. We were already destroying entire cities with conventional bombing raids. And using incendiary bombs. Like was done at Dresden. Japan only had 8 cities left when we used the Atomic bombs. Japan did not seem to care. They would go on fighting. Kinda like the Churchill speech of the UK fighting to the last man. Japan surrendered just after Russia declared war on Japan and promised to start attacking. That seems to be the real reason. But the west does not want to admit that.
