Well It gets you the fast track to finding out. And self ending is a sin in many religions. So in a religious way of thinking, its pretty smart?
Nope. One asks you to accept ideas that are contrary to reason, the other does not. It's the difference in believing a magician has great slight-of-hand skills vs believing he's actually magic.
One is reasonable, the other hilariously insulting to the intelligence.
