Basketball is boring
So yeah i dont get it, people say soccer is boring but ide rather watch soccer than basketball, soccer i know that not alot of points are made but atleast when the team does score its amazing, In basketball, from the one or two games ive seen, the games are so long that each team scores like a combined total of 150-200 points, where is the exitment in that, running up and down a very small field just shooting back and forth, why do people get so exited when a player scores, if a team makes 100 points that means the ball was shot 50 times maybe less

WHERES THE EXITMENT

Just a btw i dont watch sports at all other than the world cup and thats because my father is a hardcore soccer fan

I watch football because I grew up playing it. It's really fun to play with friends. Size doesn't matter like it does in basketball and other sports either. And you only need a ball, a net and maybe some gloves for the goalkeeper to have fun.

The invisible hand of the market at hand, nothing stupid about people willing to pay money to be entertained.
Hate watching sports. I don't get it. Why not do a sport instead? People spend all this money on sport crappola and the money goes to big corps. It's not sport. It's business. People are watching business in action. I don't get it.

You could say the same then about almost anything that involves just watching - TV, film or even opera.

Anyone can play a sport provided they have access to the equipment, teammates, and facility. Visual mediums like you cited are for the most part a form of escapism taking place in times, situations, and areas not accessible by the general population.

They also need raw talent. You make it seem like all you need to be good at a sport is money when that isn't the case.

if we are talking about big leagues then yes it is, people invest millions of dollars into players, coaches, training equipment, stadiums, ect. there are jobs and careers that should earn more money than just entertaining people

I wasn't talking about professionally. I was saying anyone can play a sport with the above mentioned criteria, but for the most part unless they are pretending make believe you can't participate in the media ForkQ mentioned with production values like on tv or movies

So, most people can't go pro how does that make a difference.

Spacelord can't fathom why people want to watch sports more than play them.

Fork said for the same reason they watch things on tv/movies.

I said anyone can technically play a sport, but not end up in most situations portrayed on tv and film.

You mistook what I said thinking I meant professional sports.

I tried to explain on the core level sports can be played and that is basically the same thing the pros play, but the only way a common person can experience most movie/tv situations is by pretending make believe.

What is this about? I was responding to the guy saying that sports are a big business, but so is nearly every form of audience entertainment.

No, not everyone could be a professional athlete.
