How safe is your house?
How safe is your house? Mainly in terms of break-ins... I have deadbolts on the front and back doors of my house that I always have locked, and RING cameras by both doors... but I also have one really big window by the front door, that someone could easily smash and break in through if they wanted to

My younger brother stays in an apartment and a few months ago someone threw a rock through his window and broke in and was picking up TVs when my bro confronted him and the guy just dropped the stuff and ran out spooked

I stress about break-ins a lot. Just wondering, how often do you guys think about your safety while youre inside your home? And do you take a lot of safety measures to prevent getting robbed? Also, has someone ever broken into ur house before?

I think it's important to always be cautious of it, and have a plan in place. But it's also important to not be too paranoid about it

The neighborhood you live in plays a huge factor in it too... probably the biggest factor.

If you have windows on the ground floor, it is easy to break in. Also a standard deadbolt isn't as much protection as most people think it is, but will stop most casual break ins. You always can decrease the chances by not having bushes in front of your house and flood lights, but if you live in a bad neighborhood, or if people are determined to break in there really isn't to much you can do to stop them.

You could always get bars for your windows, but make sure they are the kind that can be removed easily if there is a fire.

I'd give my place a 6.5 out of 10, I have a gate across my drive way, several big dogs in the yard, and live in the middle of nowhere. But I have several windows, including in the door itself. I'd feel sorry for someone who broke in if I was there however, since only one of us would be walking out.

Safe area now. But years ago I was living alone, and someone also threw a rock through my window while I was gaming actually. It freaked me out so bad that I would always game with my handgun on the table next to me. Had no peace.

I have a bucket full of beans over my door and when someone breaks in it falls over their head

Safe enough to cause stupidity to all who enter.
Only once did my house try to get robbed.

They backed up wrong, hit a column and drove off in a panic.

Not that safe. All I have is a deadlock and a doorknob lock. 2 locks for my main door. My back door is a slide-in glass door so they could just break that. But my dad has a gun so if any bad guys come in you would hear shotgun blast.
I've lived in great places to live, and I've lived in some real crappy areas.

Never had a single break in. And I'm definitely not worried about it now. I live in a great community where almost everyone knows everyone else and I live almost right next door to the county sheriff.
