Have you seen those advanced boston dynamics robots? Yeah, that kind of movement is not going to get you anywhere in boxing. Robots haven't really progressed to the point where quick speedy movements are easy to do with a humanoid shaped robot.
This isn't even taking into account the cost a robot like that would even have attached to it, only to get destroyed possibly beyond repair in its first outing.
If you want robot to fight each other just start a battle royale with real weapons. Be more fun that way.
so we're stuck with the little, simple to build / cheap to replace spin bots that use high speed motor spins to inflict damage, and since its the meta... =p
also i think the larger bot battles pose a serious danger to the audience. if the arena shielding gets destroyed, the fights have to get shut down, and who knows how long that would be.
