What are your thoughts on monarchies? Do they have a place in 2023?

Personally, I'm a big anti-royalist.

I think from the standpoint of the society, monarchy symbolizes inequality in the worst way possible and is a highly undemocratic structure for any country to have. The fact that societies have shifted from what is called "absolute monarchy" (where the royals have the power) to soft, symbolic monarchy further demonstrates that this structure has no place these days and only exists as a mark of the past.

I think just because inequalities existed in the past, it does not mean that we should continue those inequalities today which are something we would never create in the 21st century anyway. There are a lot of bad things that have happened in the history, which we have abolished - but somehow this "tradition" has carried on. I don't get it.

I also think that there will be major structural changes upcoming. And that's a good thing. For instance in the UK which is a strong monarchy, only 1/3rd of people aged 18-24 support monarchy. Now, compare that number to those over 65, from which almost 80% support monarchy. We're looking at a situation where the approval ratings for monarchy are at the lowest they've ever been, and it's clear where that trend is going.

What are your thoughts? Should monarchies be abolished?

Without a power structure, I think it's impossible to organize a society. So that structure will always carry on. What would it be like, that's another question. We can perhaps reshape our whole system; do a reset, if our current ways of governance are outdated and not functional enough.

Yeah, basically I think we need something new. Something that is actually relevant to modern needs and preferably something which actually allows for humanism instead of all the terrible, oppressive -isms.

However, I don't see it happening because capitalism, fascism, consumerism...etc, all benefit those currently in power. And they'll do anything to keep it. And sadly, young generations are still joining their ranks every day so that new ideas just don't come forward in favor of the old, broken ones. Sigh.
