What modern movies just use practical effects?
Are there any movies today that just use practical effects instead of relying on cgi?

That movie was awesome!
The last movie I know that I really liked that used practical effects was Dog Soldiers. And that's actually pretty old.

But the werewolves in that look pretty freaking awesome.

"COME ON OF YOU'RE HARD ENOUGH!"

Man I really like that movie. I got it on VHS and DVD.

I'm hoping that John Carpenter's potential new thing movie will go back to more practical effects. Because the thing was a Master class in practical effects.

Sadly it's a dying art form.

Hardcore Henry was pretty much conceived of as a practical effects movie to throw a bunch of money at.

The last major sci-fi movie to truly do it was Total Recall.

I dunno, I used to complain about CG and go on and on about how practical effects look better.

But honestly, they both look bad to me these days.

I kinda want to just go back and watch some films that don't have so many fantastical elements just so everything looks real for a change.

Topic made me think of this.

There’s a video by Corridor Crew about how in “This is the end” they has used practical effects but it looked so bad they CGI’d over it.

It’s a bit of an older modern movie but here’s the episode talking about it.

Here’s the episode:

There's a movie called "The Void" which is a modern nod to "The Thing (1982)" with all practical effects.

It's not a terrible movie, and the effects are done well, but it's nowhere near as good as the classic.
