Who coined the phrase "swing and a miss"?
Since you're not going to read this, and you're going to answer wrong, telling me it comes from baseball, which is not what I asked, I am going to go ahead and laugh at you in advance.

Now I am going to repeat the question, though I don't know why because you'll still insist "it comes from baseball" is the author of the quote.

I don't know, could be an author who used it as a analogy, but most likely a term used in baseball.

Why you asking dumb questions?
I don't know the person's name, but they were likely employed as a baseball commentator.
More jester farming, I knew I came to the right spot for conversation.
I have no idea, but I picture Don Adams saying it.

Cuz it's my hobby, duh.
Boxing? I don't know any boxing people, not really interested in watching people fight with pillows on their fists

William Safire perhaps?
I don't know if we have an answer for who coined it, but I don't think it comes from baseball.

I assume it was in reference to swinging a sword, missing, and that usually being your fatal mistake since you're now wide open.

So probably an old general or something?

My mom coined this phrase when I tried to punch her but missed, on April 1997. Okay?
Oh really? WHAT TIPPED YOU OFF, GENIUS?!
Abner Doubleday of course!:steammocking:
