In your opinion, is it worse having no father figure, or a weak father figure?
In my opinion it's worse having a weak father figure, as you have to learn everything on your own just like with no father, but worse since there's things you have to unlearn as well.

Nah... not in the 21'st century.
You're also fine with one or two mummys and daddys.
The sex of the person that teach you the skills you need doesn't matter at all.

I don't know. My father was busy yet he was there for me.

A weak one.

But then again, depending on the mother figure; without that in place, you could fall into one extreme another.

So it depends. The stronger the better.
I'd say having a weak mother is fine if you are born a man. The same way having a weak father is fine if you are born a Woman. It's not ideal but it's not particularly that harmful compared to having a weak same-sex parent.

The most powerful role model a child could have is a parent of the same sex. I'd be just fine being adopted to a family of 2 fathers, probably not a lesbian couple however.

Doesn't that depend on what kind of couple the couple is regardless of if it is hetero couple or ♥♥♥♥ couple?`
...
The ♥♥♥♥ word is censored isn't it?

Mh... I think that's a long overhauled pov...:iamthink:
I think that it is better that you learn to stand on your own, regardless of whether you have a bad or otherwise absent father figure in your life.

Its a role you have to do yourself before judging others.
Every kid says there be a better parent based on what they feel they lacked. Some succeed while other fail.
Kids as young as 13 now commit all sorts of crime reaching levels such as GBH and murder which was a rarity back in the 70s.
Kids feel they are entitled today, lack respect, needy and are such attention seekers. Honour, loyalty, promise, you name it have all declined.
Each generation despite a kids vow to be a better parent has got steadily worse.

Thing is, is it really a parents fault or the world that invades every child's life that diminishes a parents role to that of a fall guy when even the most wealthy and loved turn out rotten.

I feel like having a weak father figure would be worst; but what counts as a weak father figure? A deadbeat, loser, or abuser?

"Weak father figure" is too vague to give an actual answer.

Weak is too subjective and vague of a term, especially if not defined in regards of your question.

It is best to have both a firm father and mother figure during the social developmental years of the child.

Firm meaning that parents act in an authoritative manner and gradually giving the child an increasing level of freedoms as the child socially matures.

A weak father is still better than no father. Hands down. As you still get more resources put into you as a kid, meaning you have a more healthy social circle due to not having money issues as much, and you still get more attention and love.

And we can see how "well" fatherless boys turn out.
How? You raise questions that not just need but demand answers.

Whatever father figure you had you will have to unlearn things, no one is perfect.
Mine was an army dude we were raised as such. I'm glad I learned discipline young it made me what I am today, but there were things that I didn't like and I'll never do what he did.

What matters is that you have someone who cares.
