Social Media is the most toxic place I ever seen
Reddit, Twitter, Facebook and etc have the most toxic people I ever seen. If you like say something they don't agree with they will attack you, insult you and basically stalk your profile until you leave the platform.

I remember pissing off one guy on Reddit that stalked my profile for a year because he always got pissed off about my opinions that were true, most pathetic guy I ever seen. He's one of the many people that made me leave Reddit, rudest and the meanest people ever, lol.

What do you think about social media? I stopped using it years ago.

Could been worst. 1 guy from 4Chan SWATTED me by making a fake report of shots fired. Thank god they only sent 2 officers to check up before jumping the gun.

Social media is at the root of the overwhelming majority of today’s issues.

Get rid of it completely, and you’d instantly improve 90% of peoples’ troubles.

Social Media is something that should not exist, people shouldn't go there to release their problems out on others.

It's fine if you learn to tune people out, every site has its bad apples. Hell, even OT isn't much better than something like Twitter tbh

Yes on Reddit your comment and post will get down voted to hell if people don't like it. I never liked that feature and think it should be removed.

I guess it doesn't make much sense to people, but, even though its 'free' to sign up on social media.. you are the product.

are you ok with the fact that someone is making mad bank off you using social media? =]

i wasn't ok with it, so around the time i canceled tv, i also canceled social media. have not regretted it.

This is probably true to a certain extent, although the news media hasn't helped the situation either, nor have politicians who have almost without exception tried to capitalize on the division fostered by social media rather than fight it.

social media sucks and it can hurt a lot of people, so if anyone is struggling with anything please seek help because people can help you :)

I never used it with an account in the first place. Today i saw a show, which did a study on twitter, which basically shows, that small groups and individuals are leaving, and right-wingers are overtaking the place, as it was to be expected if You say You can say anything if it´s not against Musk, or Tesla, as that somehow gets censored. Then anything racist or hate, even child porn is raising. The bubbles are getting smaller. Tendency: people who shout the loudest win, which means a shift to the right. Like double the amount of these kind of tweets, while the others are reduced. That´s only a German study though, so i wouldn´t link it here. It was done to show the effect after Musk bought it. 1.3 billion tweets of 4.2 million accounts.

Let´s - let´s build a conspiracy theory around it, if we add some rumor which is about some Döpfner figure, who owns media, which is about building political opinions, and could be described as spreading "fear, hate, tits and the weather report". It´s said he exchanged messages with Musk, which were like: "Hey Elon, let´s buy twitter." Musk:" Sounds interesting." Döpfner: "I´m serious. We can do it. Should be fun." Then we take Mark Zuckerbergs first big investor Peter Thiel into it, for which one of Döpfners children works, while the other "kid" is married to another billionaire daughter of some guy who had relatively cheap workers back in WW II times. But no. Let´s better be serious and rational...

You've named the most toxic.
There are thousands of others. Some with cozy, small comunities. This also means they're moderared better.

Associating the words "social media" to those few is very problematic. It is associating the subject with its bad agents. "Transportation" does not mean "combustion engine, single person, private cars".

Those social media, in specific, should be closed down by all governments at once.

Yes, and in Brazil Zuckerberg and his associates are responsible for the election of Bolsonaro, by pushing him into everyone's feeds from 2017 to 2018.

Also, Facebook knew it was amplifying fake news on Covid and the vaccines and did not modify its Algorithms to stop it.
They only applied a few bans on popular accounts, but that did not stop the hemorragic flow of common folk posting all sorts of crazy conspiracy theories into everyone's timelines.

If one single person was manslaughtered by this deliberate spread of misinformation, it would be enough to enjail all of the responsible people (even those "just following orders"). In reality, it was probably hundreds of thousands to millions.

Perhaps there should be taken a bit more action about something, if they act against certain laws. But somehow we have exactly 10 people here, who work on all reports and complains about the international web and social media. So if You have a lawyer You get a reply, but if You do it as a citizen - rather not. Not to say that most people wouldn´t even report it to the authorities, but rather block accounts, or leave the place, or ignore the posts, and then blame social media for it.

Not everything about social media is bad - without it it´s way harder to spread information.

I did not understand the first part of your response. For the second part, I never said that everything about social media is bad. In fact, I said the opposite: Zuckers' and Elon's platforms are the absolute worst, and should not be considered the norm, even with lots of useds (who mostly want to leave and can't).

Also, you're blocked by me. I just clicked the "show" button (unfortunatelly Steam doesn't just hide completely all posts), but don't bother replying to me in the future.
