Peak gaming is Bethesda putting a mircotransaction shop in Fallout 76 and then selling a yearly subscription service for their clearly broken ass, artistically bankrupt excuse for a video game.

The store is so sad. The cosmetics are so 'meh' compared to regular loot and the ability to transmog.

As long as people are capable of having fun playing the game, they will overlook any form of greedy monetization such as microtransactions and pay-to-win systems. (This also goes for any other corporate practices that negatively impact the gaming industry as well, such as broken launches or barebones products.)

If it doesn’t personally affect their experience, then it isn’t an issue in their eyes. This is the reason why boycotting doesn’t work: people only care when it impacts them. People won’t “take a moral stance” on something for the purpose of a greater cause. They’ll just stop playing when they stop enjoying the game.

If it doesn't affect gameplay (like p2w, or following Activision’s matchmaking patent basing matches on if you bought mtx and somehow affecting the damage and some ♥♥♥♥ in game. Damn I never thought I’d see a game worse than Vanguard) I wouldn’t care and a boycott would be ineffective
