Sometimes it doesn't feel good either, megaman zero 4 has a crafting system and it's garbage. I never use armor upgrades in that game as a result of not wanting to deal with crafting in a damn 2d platformer.
Either give me the item entirely or don't give it to me at all.
Games should aim for believability over realism, and intuitiveness over simplification.
Fortunately, the games are perfectly playable without doing all that. But the completionist in me really wanted to do and collect everything, lol.
How can warriors/heroes who spend most of their rime adventuring do a better job than blacksmith that spend their lifetime forging?
but i do like building a base/house/shelter more than anything.
Crafting is generally rubbish; it basically replaces a general currency like "gold" with a whole slew of currencies called "materials", forcing you to constantly look up drop tables to find out where to get them.
EDIT: things get even worse if the game has a limited inventory, so you can't just keep all the dog eyes, wolf tails, cat teeth, rabbit ears etc. that you pick up all the time until you need them.
