Any video-games set in the 1830s-40s?
I know this is a niche area, but I just think this period of history has so many events that could make for an interesting video-game. The Alamo / Texan Revolution, the Mexican-American War, the First Opium War, the California Gold Rush, the Trail of Tears, the start of Victorian Britain, etc.

Are there any video-games which cover any of these topics, or are just generally set in the 1830s-40s period?

Putting in family-member names for my wagon party and then feeling guilty when they died :P

Oh yea. You learn about national land marks, how to plan for a trip, and the ever present dangers of dysentery.

You ever have everyone die of dysentery? I think it was from eating raw bear meat. The whole family ends up crapping themselves to death in the woods.

Is that Donner party would definitely not want to stop for a snack.

No, the financing of literal bandits to raid and stuff ballots in California until they pretty much stole the state, as well as the determined effort to annex Texas one way or another, are banned topics in the US' history. Would not sell well.

Even worse, the politics of the time are dominated by the economics of slavery and the US still basically has those economics. So...

Just played "Oregon Trail Deluxe" on archive . org for nostalgia sake... Not having touched the game in probably 20+ years I was surprised I did alright. Only had one party member die, the rest of us got to Oregon in good health with plenty of supplies to spare. Maybe I just got lucky...

Not sure there were any ballot boxes around in California to stuff when America took if off Mexico in the war of 1846-48. And once the Gold Rush started, it was a foregone conclusion that California would become a state one way or another.

So apparently the History Channel produced a computer game called "The Alamo - Fight For Independence", but I can't find any information about it. Looks like it might be a strategy game, so not my cup of tea, but I'd still be curious to know. Anyone here familiar with that game?

Add a decade or two and you'll get War of Rights.

I've heard of it, as well as several other Civil War games. But in this case it's later than what I'm looking for.
