Totem Poles and Slavic Idols
I was thinking about this recently.

The religion native to my homeland at least in part used strikingly similar religious devices to totem poles that probably fulfilled very similar purposes as those in North America - at least partially.
Since Christianisation was pretty vial around here, it could very well be the church destroyed all but a few of these "idols", especially when most could've been wood carvings, not obelisks. The Sbrutsch idol is often considered just an idol, but I think it could very well be a kind of totem pole.

I just find it interesting that two different cultures, oceans apart came up with pretty much the same solution for the same purpose.

That's quite an achievement, but shame you didn't documented the crossover episode that's responsible for you cursing Perun to this day. What happens in Karelia stays in Karelia, I guess. :/

Me and Perun are cool. Me thinks Perkele and Perun are homies.
Northern America was populated by people from Siberia using the land bridge between the ice ages. Not really surprising to see similar influences between Siberian and North-American native shamanistic cultures.
