When did you grow out of your edgy atheist phase?
I was an edgy atheist in my late teens and early 20s, but thankfully I grew out of it around 2014 I think. I'm 34 now and still probably technically an atheist, but I just don't care enough about arguing on the internet and being a ♥♥♥♥ anymore to be condescending to people for their beliefs. And to be completely honest, as I get older I do see the appeal to spirituality and think that Buddhism is pretty cool and try to meditate at least 10 minutes per day.

So when did you grow out of your edgy atheist phase? Are you still an edgy atheist?

Some atheist made OP upset by saying his skydaddy isn't real. This post is OP coping.

No, I was never an edgy atheist. I believe in the Holy Trinity. Buddhism isn't a religion, as far as I know. Catholicism is the only true religion.
TRUE religion.

I love it when people make that claim because they can never back it up with evidence. All they mean is they REALLY believe in that one.
Jesus established the Catholic church. You still are an edgy atheist, ain't that right? :D

Christianity as a whole not just the Catholic church.

He actually didn't. Jesus was a Jew and never intended to found a new religion, that's something his followers did.

Jesus instructed Peter to lead His church and told him how to continue His works.

Yup, go and check - Japan is hugely left leaning. Sometimes in economics not so much, but absolutely socially.

Maybe you don't understand what left IS, which wouldn't surprise me given that many in the US don't.

KLet me make it easy for you.

If you believe in a kind of every man for themselves, where you pay your way and you keep a largest amount of your money and if emergencies come up, you simply pay out of your own pocket, then that's conservatism.

But if you believe that you should pay a bit in taxes to insure against the emergencies so you won't be left destitute or harmed then that's socialism.

Of course, you can go to extremes but we're not talking about that degree here.

Gioogle our Nationla Health here in Britain.

Ah yes fat shaming is left leaning, sure....

They measure your waist each year for the healthcare and everyone notices.

Its not about individual freedom, but collective responsibility, its not about being left wing at all, not in your modern sense to say the least.

Values which are bad for the group are marginalized, paraphilias, western ideas of freedom which amount to little more than libertinism, its why they continue to shame the "Christmas cake" woman.

"no eggs" meme nothing new to Japan.

And you know what "church" used to mean back then?

skimmed over this entire thing.

one thing i find funny on here is the Bible. as in. the Bible and its 'fairy tales'. its always the Bible. I notice this IRL too with atheists, agnostics, secular etc.. They always have zero issue talking :DSTpoop: to a person they know is a Christian or trying to bait them and get them upset out of bordem or w/e.

but.

I have witnessed 1st hand ~ never ~ a 'secularist' doing this about the quran, torah, the vedas or hindu text, or even shinten/shinto..

Are atheists cowards to these other religions? they just like to pick on Christians? seems plausible... I knew some VERY belligerent secular people at a place i worked once. they would ignore the musilms in a hijab or their robed outfits, would never say a thing or make fun of them when they prayed, etc.

BUT, then..

If a Christian opened up a bible. oh man here it came. magic sky fairies, memes, jokes, you name it..

I've also seen first hand a hindu indian openly talking about their religion, etc, people would sit around ask questions like they were so interested, omg this is so amazing, ask about the third eye, etc, etc.. he was basically teaching and preaching them hindu.

why do the secular love to 'pick' on Christians but are literally afraid to do the same to other religions. I find this amusing and ironic and have first hand witnessed it many times... its always the bible and 'sky fairies'.. never any jokes, memes, etc about the quran, vedas, torah, etc, etc..

I had a friend once. self proclaimed atheist. made fun of God openly, made fun of people he worked with who listened to christian music, made fun of them for saying have a 'blessed day' ,etc etc. the typical 'atheist' stuff really.. BUT. he loved japan, going to Japan, visiting temples in japan, he knew about the shinto religion, etc. Even was apart of a shinto funeral ceremony, etc.. that was all cool to him. no issue. he would even talk to you about it. BUT. as soon as you mentioned the Bible or God. here it came. jokes, memes, etc etc.. and he was according to himself 100% an atheist.

sooo...is this, ignorance? cowardice? I'm beginning to think 'atheist' is just a term for anti-christian as other religions and other texts don't seem to phase them, and sometimes even interests them....

:Muty:
Lol.

I treat and view all religions the same...the difference though, is that not once has a Hindu, or a Muslim, a Jew, or any other belief for that matter pushed the issue like Christians do.

I have never had anyone other than a Christian knock on my door pushing their beliefs or standing around somewhere shoving pamphlets in my face.

One of my best friends was a Muslim and never once tried to talk to me about religion....this is also true of my Jewish friends, including a family member, but this can not be said about many of my Christian friends.

Belief in a god, any god, is imo ridiculous, as are the holy texts.

One really has to lie to one's self to believe in such things, as anyone capable of even a small amount of rationality can see that it is all a bunch of crap.

Religion is something left over from the infancy of our intelligence, it will fade away as we adopt reason and science as our guidelines.

I don't believe that thinking there is a god is ridiculous, at all. It's not about opinion, but deduction. I also believe that denying that humans indeed know God, is a worst-case scenario; perhaps more frightening than people even realise.
Don't have one cuz parents said its bad

When i was around 17. I was living my miserable life and not doing anything productive. I insulted people (especially Christians, as it was trendy), i didn't help anyone, and i only cared about myself. I had no idea how to be moral. Then i found God in a very special way. He saved me and since then i care about people, try to be helpful as much as i can and smile a lot more. As an atheist i would always be full of hate. Now i praise God.

No one forced their faith on me. But now i wish they would so i wouldn't waste so much time.

Atheists, depart from hate. Give God a chance. Each of you already knows that there must be God. :steamhappy::crossed:
So you use God as a drug and a crutch, which means you're basically a bad person on a leash.

I have always been moral, caring and nice to others...a decent person in other words, I was never like the person you described, and I did that without needing a crutch, and that's a big difference between atheists and theists.

Saying garbage like " Atheists, depart from hate" and Claiming "Each of you already knows that there must be God" is severely arrogant and one of the reasons people look down on and even despise Christians.

Christianity and its god is just one more belief out of thousands, if not millions, many of which existed long before your particular faith came about.
In fact, you should keep in mind that more people do not believe in the Christian god than do.

No matter what, each religion claims to be the correct one, and every other is wrong...,perfect example of arrogance....well, they can not all be correct, but they can all be wrong.

I saw an interview with Richard Dawkins once, and he summed it up perfectly..... The god and faith you believe in and worship mostly depends on where and when you were born.

I don't know where you are going with this...
But if you think I am a follower of any Abrahamic religion, I am not. I am actually Wiccan.

tbf some people really think like their mind is open either metaphorically or even literally just because they look at the sky and concludes that "yep, he doesn't exist". a few even go out of their way saying that the believers are this and that. i get that but this is just my thoughts about it
