Why is English considered a germanic language, but not a romance language?
The ancient languages impact on English.

Germanic Languages 25.5%

Latin 28.4%

French 28.4%

Greek 5.9%

Other Languages 11.8%

Did you realize something funny? French and Latin have more influence on English than Germanic itself, if you join French and Latin, the both will have 56.8% of influence.

And I almost forgot, England was part of the Roman Empire.

The French didn't invade the English hard enough.
Because no one wants to be associated with Rome
based on its linguistic roots english very clearly is a germanic language, the first speakers did live in what is today germany and old english was grammatically almost the same as modern german and old norse, but of course foreign influences made their mark on the language but that means nothing classification wise
Normans thought that the Anglo-Saxon English words are cringe so they enriched it with French. Big mistake.
a good portion of nouns adjectives and verbs may have latin roots but the lack of gender, declensions, classic verb conjugations are all missing and as others have said, english is mechanically different from more latin-based languages
Old English was the language of the Anglo-Saxons and is one of the ancient Germanic languages. English has had influence from other European languages over the centuries, especially French because of the Normans, but at its roots it is Germanic, not Romance.
Nothing romantical about "OI LUV FEESH N CHIPS CHEWSDAY INNIT!"...

I speak American thankfully.

Should you be indrawn, you can still speak English without the sways of Romish reards, asetting them with inborn words or ones footing in other Theedish reards.

English stripped of its fremd sways is still very Theedish at heart.

Germanic language... "romance language"?

Is there really a question why it's not?...

I heard about this, maybe I wouldn't understand anything since I'm familiarized with latin-origin words.

I love how Minecraft shores such many and thester reards. Shame it doesn't shore many byreards and spellcrafts of those, as it does with the ones of mainstream reards. For byspel, East Nethertheech for Nethertheech is missing, but Bairish, Frangish and Swabish exists for High Theech.
