Can you give some samples?
I find it interesting.
To the best of your knowledge; how likely did the people do it to themselves?
A common culprit is copyrighted music. I cannot count how many people when they are small potatoes get away with it in the background and then upon hitting the magic threshold claim unfair surprise.
Now that is one common cause. There could be ???
But that's only on mobile I use adblock on PC. Haven't figured out mobile yet or I might have asked it here but forgot.
Adblock is better at shutting down the actual ads than blocking the spyware.
That is a big part of it.
Fun fact: I've uninstalled Dead By Daylight and I keep seeing ads from it everywhere. The funny thing is they say "no one escapes this game". And I've never seen these ads before uninstalling the game.
Sure enough as the years rolled on the adverts crept in followed by censorship.
Funny how that works.
All the gun channels I watch have been demonetized because they show guns.
Most of the car channels I watch have been demonetized because they show cars racing on closed tracks.
And a news/history channel I watch was recently demonetized because one of their commentators once said something offensive on his private YouTube channel a few years ago.
The few instances I've seen regarding music copyright have been gameplay channels. The YouTuber was able to edited the video and uploaded it again.
But most of the gameplay channels I watch stopped uploading about a year ago when YouTube decided they were going to run ads on unmonetized channels and keep all the money for themselves.
-Some crappy coomer-bait mobile game
-"Import wife from Serbia" (I am gay and watch content related to LGBT issues on occasion HOW THE ♥♥♥♥ AM I GETTING THESE)
-Some politically charged ad from a dubious local political group funded by outside interests
-Fake anti-virus software
-World of Tanks and World of Warships
By selling your data. Not joking, that's how "free" services works.
