WB and Disney/Marvel have too high of a budget
Is it me, or does it seem like their movies lately have been ♥♥♥♥ because of how much of a budget they're operating at? I'm sure some people will say a budget doesn't correlate to quality, but I do remember how when Fox, being in the red and forced to operate with a smaller budget, managed to put out Deadpool, which actually ended up being better than most Marvel/DC films these days, despite operating with a smaller budget. Maybe the new DC/Marvel films should have their budgets cut, and be reduced to operating with a smaller one, so that maybe they might actually be forced to focus on the characters and story, instead of CGI and VFX.

Having too much "♥♥♥♥ you money" has allowed them too much leeway and freedom to constantly afford losses and flops and not have to worry about being tanked. Fox Studios practically had to bet it all on X-Men, that unfortunately even the success of Deadpool and Logan couldn't save them.

What's really forcing WB's or Disney's hand these days? You got them blaming actors and/or fans instead of themselves for putting out subpar films. No one's forcing them to operate on a higher budget. I get that with A-List talent, and higher production values, they might be limited in just how small they can make the budget, but if those two things aren't enough to deliver a successful and profitable movie, then perhaps it's time to rethink the talent and production values.

The Godfather budget to make was $6 million and it's sequel was $13 million and they both won academy awards

There's no reason for a film to have a budget of $100 million or more to make, your not using full models anymore and it's all green/blue screen and Computer-generated imagery, so either stop paying the actors silly double digit salary's in the millions or fire all the studio budget planners

You can start watching a lower budget film, or move away from hollywood for a change. There are lots of good european/asian films out there.

They have money to burn and they also know that lots of people will be attract by CGI or lead actors, why would they stop?

Average movie watcher are not so picky. Just look at the success of MCU.
Story was never their strong suit, and almost every single one of them make nice profit, no matter how bad the review.
What cracks me up about them is that despite their huge budget their CGI looks blatantly like CGI. And they rely way too much on it.
Budget isn't relevant to crappy writing.

It's a high-risk, high-reward strategy.

Action movies translate better overseas than comedies or traditional dramas. Hollywood can't rely on just making money in the US. So instead of making ten smaller movies no one will see (or China refuses to show), companies bank on two or three massive movies. CGI and marketing costs a lot. When it succeeds they make a billion dollars, which justifies a bomb or two.

I hate the idea, but that's how they've done it for twenty years.

Its clearly too low to bankrupt them which is a shame.

Well said! :)
As far as I know Marvel movies are not very succesful, not as the producers wanted them to be at least.
Disney recently fired a producer because of that.

You do realize 4 of the top 10 all-time highest grossing films are Marvel movies?
Just need better screen writers, good actors.... most talent needs a high budget.

they just have too much money.. if they want 50 movies per year but have money to make 5000.. they wont make 5000, its simply way too many movies, they would literally drown in their own productions.. they simply dont have enough products to spend the money on
