My mom and aunt happen to be 100% Italian ancestry and yet have straight hair. I'm half Italian and my hair grows into a big curly floof if I let it.
I have a childhood photo where my hair is so big it makes my head look tiny.

Easier to groom, easier to make different hair styles with it and much lighter (that would be a disadvantage if you want volume...) 🤷

I know some ppl with curly hair where they have to make their hair straight to do certain hair styles, thank god I am not curly, with my OCD I cannot imagine how would that end

here is ultra common, people have to actually try to have straight hair.
humidity is an enemy it seems for straight hair. mine are short but when they were long they used to floof as well lol

At least my state now has a law prohibiting discrimination based on hair, as I'm sure some people think negatively of curly haired males, expecting it to be shaved off at the earliest convenience.

people work everywhere with any hair style they want, except perhaps the army or the police, the core state kinda where men have to have short hair and women must have them tied back tight. but in the open market people work with any hair style they like.

lots of girls have thick curly hair, most use straighteners though so you never know.

Theres also a lot of girls that pay to have curls done at the hairdresser using curlers. Theres even a hairstyle called a layed cut which lots of girls get for naturally curly hair to allow it to blend and bounce more whilst keeping it tidy.

Sometimes I need to get my hair trimmed because I work in a machine shop and if it gets too big it could get drawn into a drill press or milling machine spindle. I get it shaved off if either it is getting in my eyes or I start getting scared of rotating machines.
I usually go to the barber 2-3 times a year, get it all taken off.
