violent gore in Video games censored
I've been playing Far Cry 6 lately and you never see the enemy's heads blow off or limbs blown off, your using explosive ammo and all's you see is blood splatter and the corpse fall to the ground

There's only one scene in the game were a head is blown to pieces and that's the mission called Confront Jose Castillo - Justicia Montero

Why are gaming company's p_ussy footing around with dismemberment and decapitation and censoring or limiting it in games?

It actually had nothing to do with us. It was the Australian rating board that blocked them, and all of our games used to come through them.

I also played Manhunt as a kid, because piracy exists.

Also, you're living in what is statistically the least free country on earth, my guy. Highest rate of incarceration by a wide margin. So let's not make jokes on that front, huh.

I mean don't commit crimes and you wouldnt be in jail but that has nothing to do with your countries outrageous censorship laws.

I would argue that people are so free here they are free to send themselves to jail. Hows that.

Do you have trouble with comprehension? I already told you it had nothing to do with us or our laws.

And, yeah that's about what I expected. Deflection in the form of weak humour.

You deflected first mentioning the prison system, you don't need to be upset, I'm upset enough for you and your insane censorship laws. I weep for my Kiwi bros. You should be able to see all the heads explode and all the blood you want to.

I don't think you know what deflecting means. You mentioned freedom, and I addressed it directly with an example within the context of freedom.

You're not very good at this.

Good at what? I'm not even trying to argue with you, I'm just trying to talk to fellow freedom loving americans and you rudely butted into saying WELLLLLLL IN NEWWWWW ZEALAND WHICH IS PART OF THE WOOOOORLD.

Like bro please. No one but Peter Jackson gives a hoot.

Good at making your case. My initial point stands.

You know there are countries outside of the U.S, right? A whole world, in fact. We don't all use the ESRB. Games can and will lose sales based on a higher content rating. There have been games in the past that were straight up banned here because they couldn't be given anything less than an R18.

Because they'd rather keep the game open to a wider audience than cater to a small group of people with a feature that is ultimately meaningless. Game development is a business, and videogames are products. Profits come first. Always.

There you go OP as mf tom so eloquently put it, its because of countries like New Zealand and them not being able to handle a little blood and realism, we have to suffer with subpar realism in our gibs nowadays.

It is rated 18 in my country but I'm guessing they know their biggest market is gonna be young kids who want to play mature games. So they gotta make it kid friendly for the parents, but still keep it mature so the kids dont feel like babies.
I don’t believe this. They know damn well many of the PS1 and PS2 gems with mature rating were popular among primary and junior high kids (like me in the 2000s).
I feel like you missed the point in my post.

Are you saying that because honey badgers dont care? They just do what they want?

Well it is Ubisoft. Mortal Kombat 1 supposedly has some of the most realistic gore they have ever done.
It damn well better if the Homelander is going to be in it!
Yeah I bet Omni man’s fatalities with be brutal as well can’t wait to see what he says to Homelander

Censorship is treason.
Chaosolous 26/ago./2023 às 7:32
I think bombastic gore is better anyway. More fun to watch without the ick. Like a head exploding into a mist of non-metallic red glitter.

Real gore physics would be... off putting for a large swath of people I think. Liveleak being an example of how it might unsettle people.

If you've ever seen real gore it's... gross.

You can desensitize to it, but it's still gross.

EDIT: Also, it's not censorship, it's an artistic choice. Maybe some governments do, but I don't think many would say "No, you cannot show gore." most of the time if something is censored in that regard, it's by it's own creative community.

Think of the like comic book approval police that the comic book industry put in during the 50's. The government was looking and going "Hmmm..." so the industry censored itself.

Same goes for the movies, there's a board of film people (not government people) that go "No, if you show that it's this rating." or in some cases just "No you can't show that." Again, not the government.

Same goes for the ESRB. That's not required by the government, it was a choice the industry made to keep government out. At least here in the US.
