No free volume boosters?
Used 'Letasoft Sound Booster' and it worked great -- amplified raw volume. Now, I have sadly discovered I was using a 2 week trial. I then spent a good amount of time looking for a free simple audio booster yet found trials.
Why are there no free ones? I'd think making a simple program like Letasoft's booster would be extremely simple, maybe two hours at most. If this is the case, why hasn't someone made a completely free program out of kindness?
(asking this is justifiable as many people spend lots time helping small groups of people through things like answering online forums)

Perhaps but you can still get the working trial and paid version from some sites. One trustworthy, virus clean link, is https://download.cnet.com/Letasoft-Sound-Booster/3000-2169_4-75761429.html

*Use malwarebytes to check if it is safe if you want - it's free, useful, and it works great

I'm confused, isn't VLC for viewing media? If so, it lets you increase volume well enough, but otherwise it doesn't amplify the volume of your computer as a whole (so, games, browsers, windows, etc, would all be louder.) And also I'd the volume at 3x louder
