I could be crazy but I don't find it appealing. Open worlds don't do it for me, nor do a lot of puzzles.

I googled, it says Miyamoto (leader of Nintendo) finished the game script and likes the Zelda name a lot, so he spoke to marketing dept / Human relations and they all agree to use it. Later I've also googled his images and it's like a child in an old man's body.. smiling and making fun faces. Looks really cute.

I’ve not played Breath of the Wild yet, and don’t own a Switch, so I’m not looking at Tears of the Kingdom for the time being.

I’d like to play a couple other games in the series too, specifically Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. Zelda is one of those franchises that I really missed out on as a kid. The only one I played was Wind Waker, and I didn’t even finish it.

Dude, twilight princess is awesome. Forget the recent Zelda’s and play that

Twilight Princess HD, Wind Waker HD and the virtual console...Wii U was a failed console (financially), but looking back, it was so well...now you pay yearly to "rent" emulations, and the selection isn't even that good.

I'm mostly interested in how BOTW2 runs on the switch docked and undocked. Other than that I don't really plan on buying it at release.

No, I have played many open world games and BOTW was probably the worst one.
I would put maybe it on par with Vice city maybe at best except Vice city came out like 20 years ago or something like that.
If I want to play an open world game I prefer to keep playing Skyrim rather than Zelda.
The only Zelda game that could really hype me would be a faithful (faithful expecially in the wpnderful ART STYLE) Twilight Princess 2, but with Scumtaro Furukawa in charge I prefer that they don't do it: Scumtaro turned Nintendo into an offensive pile of anti consumer crap, I prefer to not be tempted to give them money.
