These things somehow don't get easier as I get older!
Yeah it's not going too, but it's no sweat. These shooters today are getting a bit too bizarro in their themes anyway for me. There's still some decent games out there we can play against bots or something. That's good enough for me.
Yeah, I just can't play like I used to, and twitchy games like that are just way too fast for me nowadays and people who spend a lot of time gaming are just way out of my league. I can't keep up that much anymore and when I go back to older games I used to play it feels like I'm much slower than everyone else. Especially since I prefer controller wherever I can now, mice is bad on my wrist after enough time in one session.
You obviously never played Blood Bowl with the joke teams. I've lost in ways that I nearly pissed my pants because I had so much fun.
What I'm saying is that even if you're playing a supposedly competitive game (CSGO, for example), usually your teammates don't give a damn about winning or losing, they don't take ♥♥♥♥ seriously.
You said it yourself, OP. It's cheese. It's cheese that you can beat fairly easy, but it makes life hell when you just want to enjoy a game.
Personally I find casual more fun , life itself is already full of stress and I don't need video games to become another sources of it.
I play games because it's entertaining, I'm not doing it to prove anything to anyone so highly competitive games could stop existing and I would not care.
single player makes me feel like im walking through a tech demo of peoples ideas of what npc's should do over and over again
i dont want to watch programming i wanna play a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game. stop making single player games its not 1983

in comp people still play like crap, but argue about who was doing the worst. as well as whether it's the worst player's fault or the best player's limitations or everyone's collective failures as a team to not join the bud-pile, as if the bud-pile would fix what made them suck so bad, as a team. like literally from minute 1 this is happening, and the end of match tirade happens anyway.
some people like this, because the game itself engages their disconnect from reality. so they can invent reasons why these arguments are happening, besides playing the game. they can imagine progress and difference and skill development, some higher path of understanding and learning. not, y'know, the ♥♥♥♥ the game exists for. the arguing. the byproduct so ubiquitous it seems as if the entire production line were scaled to produce it.
anyway, grounding all that in a 'competitive environment' helps enhance the fantasy. similar to how all of these gameplay aspects are just riders for getting poop mad, the intricacies and tactical details of the game are just riders for disassociating from reality. it's like pushing the sword onto the whetstone to get a finer edge; you're refining your escapism. subjecting it to constant testing, in the form of the ♥♥♥♥.
are you a bad enough poopsmith to make a poop-free blade out of poop? can you take control of your environment, and overcome God? prlly not, he cheats a lot and rigs matches constantly, but it's a way to engage with that fantasy.
Using "OP" and "cheese" things is REQUIREMENT in competitive games. You are forced to use op cheesy and best builds in competitive games because otherwise you fail and failure is punished in competitive games. All sorts of tricks and cheating (including game hacks) are rewarded.
The reverse is true in many competitive games and it has lead to many games dieing as players are bracketed off each-other into groups.
Total L take for competitive play. Skill Issue. Git good if you can't deal with game mechanics.
Your lack of skill is incredible, but you pretend to be competitive player. When a casual players beats you with OP thing... but wait - what when a competitive player beats you with an OP thing - we should be scared you will flood the world with your all your tears.
So ? You have to use the best tools given to you or learn how to lose.
So instead of playing games where cheese is optional, you want only games where the cheese is required ? Makes no sense.
Yeah, they INSTA SKILL you. You should stay out of competitive games if it bothers you are outskilled. Many of the reason you list on why casual games are bad are reasons why competitive games are bad.
I am not amused if this is some form of trolling. But I am giving you the benefit of the doubt and just consider you disabled. That is priviliged class instead of criminal - take the win.
if you follow it religiously it's like literally watching paint dry
oh the same 10X airshots somehow done with the same weapon
idk comp seems like a bunch of sweaty nerds while casual seems like just dumb fun with friends.
