Young Women
I am a big fan of the Netflix series Wednesday. That show was actually my first introduction to Jenna Ortega. After binge watching Wednesday, I had assumed that they had hired some teen to play the part.

I was honestly very shocked when I found out that she was over 18 years old. I was equally surprised to find out that she really doesn't need any make up to make herself look underage and she has posted pictures of herself in night clothes.

Emily Kinney is another actress who can really make herself look like a teen. Emily Kinney is most well known for her role in The Walking Dead and for her role in Alice vs Dorothy. Ms. Kinney is actually closer to my age. I saw a recent picture of her. While she no longer can pull off the teen look, she still looks very young for her age.

This got me thinking. On various social media platforms I see people post pictures of Ms. Ortega and profess their love for her or make some slightly veiled innuendo about having just one night with her.

A lot of these people are much older than Ms. Ortega. It makes my skin crawl to see crap like that, for many reasons. The reason for that is the very subtle idea of some older guy looking at a woman who could and has passed off as a teen lusting after her. Sure, she is an attractive woman. But doesn't lusting after her set off any alarm bells, if not in yourself but hopefully in your friends and family?

Real answers please. Am I making to much of this? Ms. Ortega is over age and the people who are lusting after her know this, so no-harm, no-foul, right?

Or am I on to something here? Maybe that idea of being attracted to a woman who looks very much like a child is a sign that something might not be right upstairs. Maybe these are the people we need to keep an eye on?

I am probably being to paranoid. I do have a teenage daughter who draws the looks of boys and men and that bothers me.

Yes I agree, it's disgusting, horrifying and sad for individuals to actually do this. I mean, Ortega isn't the first person that people have lusted over. I could say the same thing for various actresses and music performers. I definitely agree on how these types of people SHOULD be watched for their actions online. You're not paranoid, this does suck.

Continuing onto the second talk. If your daughter is just drawing these things, it's fine. She can draw whatever she wants, sure it might bother you but you can't tell her what she cannot do. It's not going to harm you nor herself.

I completely trust my daughter to always do the right thing. It's the guys out there who might decide to take what they want that I do not trust.

Thank you for verifying my thoughts on the matter. I really does a number to my brain. Yes, Ms. Ortega is not a teen. But she very much looks like a teen. Why would any adult guy feel comfortable lusting after her? IT just seems rather twisted to me.

Again, thank you.

she does not look young to me.

anyway, it's normal for guys to prefer younger women, just like it's normal for women to prefer taller guys. that's just how the cookie crumbles.

Unfortunately, this kind of crap is as old as the Internet. I remember when there were websites that counted down the days until the Olsen Twins were "legal". And there were probably pervs doing this with stars like Patty Duke and Hayley Mills, too, just at home, alone.

Some women look young... your hangups are your own... you're reading too much into it.

I don't know who she is, what she looks like, what date she was born.

And probably will never look at her before i go from this realm.

This is what a "can not be manipulated" type of mind does.

I think it just shows that you have not had to deal with this kind of thing as a man and also that your brain just doesn’t automatically go there. But as I’m not sure your age (though you do state you’re a Father) it is surprising this seems to be a shock to you or something new at the very least.

This is nothing new.

Girls are sexualized at young ages. As girls, we remember having felt uncomfortable around the Bidens and Trumps of our time. It’s disgusting and should never be expected nor tolerated and yet, this culture has perpetuated females as for men’s eyes and hands. That’s its own topic. But yes, this happens. Even in school. Just teach your daughter to have respect for herself and others, to have and maintain boundaries and to always speak up if anything or anyone makes her feel uncomfortable, even if it’s a teacher.

No, it is nothing new. In the end, my major was psychology with a minor in what is now called Gender Studies.

I know of the living hell that Brooke Shields had to go through. I can't help but wonder if Ms. Ortega is going through crap like this now.

And it really does bother me that men of all ages are just drooling over this woman who really does look underage. What does that say about the U.S. as a society? People can claim I am trying to stir the pot or get points, but I really am not doing that. I am honestly horrified at the general public for hypersexualizing this young woman. And this time they seem to have taken it a step further by hypersexualizing her character, Wednesday Addams. This is pedo level crap going on here.

I have given my daughter "the talk". Her and I sat back and watched things together like the video's that Amanda Todd released. We discussed what happened to Ms. Todd, how it could have been prevented, and what steps she can take if she feels like she is being bullied or pressured into doing something she does not want to do.

We have a great relationship. I like to think that she feels that she can come to me or her mom if she has any problems. While her mom and I do not see eye-to-eye on many different subjects, we have always put aside our differences when it came to our daughter.

I'm glad that it bothers you as it should. It's not normal but has been increasingly normalized.

I would recommend, if you haven't already, to watch the following films-- both you and your daughter's Mom. These films bring up very important things but they're a total judgement call for the parents to watch with their kids or just watch it yourself and open a dialogue later on, apart from the films.

Trust (2010)
Cyber Bully (2011)

Thank you for the recommendations. I will look into them.

Loli is something completely different than real life people.

That said, Jenna probably knows of the weird dudes online, but she also knows they are harmless.

You're worrying too much about online weirdos.
Jenna isn't really the type to be bothered by anything.

There won't be a repeat of Rebecca Shaffer ever again.

Some people are naturally blessed with the ability to look much younger than they are.
Abby who was on NCIS is 54 years old now. :P
When she was cast as the role, she was in her late 30s.
Even when she left, she still looks like she could be in her early 30s.

On the flip side, we have the lady who played Raven on Titans.
She was 13 when cast and played an 18 year old just fine.
IT's like she has the cure for Progeria running in her veins. :P

David, this is one of those instances where you need to sit this one out.

Uh? Why? All I did was literally talk nicely!?

I was very respectful and polite, and I let him understand things.
What could I have ever done wrong here?!
Jenna isn't going to be bothered.

As for his daughter, I have no comments on that.

Please calm down (textually). This is one of those things people mostly need to listen and learn. People tend to chime in for everything without a second's pause that others might be more knowledgeable or more experienced in such matters. Take a step back, reread the OP, maybe do a little online digging into the matter. Trust that there are people who have to deal with the realities of such things brought up in the OP.

I'm sorry, but that makes no sense to ever claim here.
I did read the OP, and I spoke directly about it.

IT is very dishonest to claim I'm not allowed to post here.
No one else has been forced away from this topic.

Heck, if you didn't even say that, I probably wouldn't have even posted that much more here.
That's ironic.

What kind of online digging do I need to do to help the OP not worry about Jenna Ortega.
THat really makes no sense.

Well, clearly, I made you mad at me, and I don't know how.
But I apologize for derailing the thread.

I shouldn't do that.

Ah. Okay. Yeah, I can understand that.
Sorry about the aggressive reply.

No, I'm certainly not mad at you, David. Nothing to apologize for.

I've just seen far too many men in this forum completely disregard girl's and women's experiences and just be unable to see certain things as clearly. And I do think we ALL tend to chime in on things we have no business chiming in on when we would be better served to hush our mouths and listen to those more knowledgeable or more experienced.

I hope that all makes some sense.

I think it is hard for men to understand a lot of the issues women face on a daily basis. Men typically don't have to worry about being sent random dic pics. Men don't have to typically worry about unwanted attention from random strangers. Men don't typically have to weaponize their car keys when walking to their cars at night.

For some men, the things I just listed are not something most men even think about or consider. And when confronted with these things, most men will react based on their experiences. Because of this, men will typically just discount what a woman has to deal with.

I really don't understand this normalization of sexualizing and hypersexualizing young women and girls. And the idea of taking a young woman and making her look like she is underage for the sexual enjoyment of men. As I stated, that is pedo creepy level ♥♥♥♥. And I am seeing it more and more on many different social media platforms. It really does make me sick.

But that is just me and my feelings. I know I am in the minority when it comes to issues like this.
davidb11 May 4, 2023 @ 11:22am
I thought your complaint was with Jenna?
I don't blame you for the other bit though.
That is creepy.
