Female Armor in Video Games
It’s a tale as old as time- female armor is generally never realistic and often leaves far less to the imagination.

To be clear- I don’t mind, given it is to be expected and there is nothing wrong with wanting to be attractive in a game, but as I’ve grown older, I’m often just disappointed when I see it. I find something like the Sisters of Battle, armored Samus, Lady Maria, etc to be far more interesting and intimidating than a revealing outfit. Perhaps it is a matter of perception as to whether you view your character as a dress-up doll or as a person. Whether you want to be cool vs alluring.

So where do you stand? Is “less more” to you, or do you prefer realistic/heavy armor. In either case, I would be curious to hear why. How do you want your character to look/be perceived?

I do prefer the more realistic looking ones.

Say, an armor Kisara from Tales of Arise have had? Absolutely.. Although, a few changes there and there would've made it even better. Still, I can't complain, I was very much satisfied!
Exo-suits VS Chain-mail

You pick which looks better on you, both weight effectively very little, one is in the future, the other is the past.

If you want heavy armor then thats just Power Armor VS Plate Armor and at that point the arguement is rather empty when you cant tell who is under several inches of reinforced steel and/or graphite composite metal layering anyways.

Ok so alright, then why isn't it ok to ask people to suspend disbelief in a movie where a 5'7" 110 lb woman is kicking major roided-out ass on-screen in a movie? Because for some people, we have to draw the line somewhere, right? That's exactly the point of this thread; for people to talk about their own line, if they have one.
I'm rather sure a woman was the first person to be in a film where blood and death was primarily the main feature, Kill Bill, like Bruce and Lee had their own but Kill Bill literally was so bloody that it puts all of the others to shame....

Also, in most games, we have magic/SciFi -- so "real world" doesn't need to apply anyway.

Pretty much...

This is the:

"I suspend my disbelief about a magical / SciFi world and 99.99% in it... but draw the line at female armor because it's this day and age's social no-no for some groups of people that I want to score points with"

... just keep suspending that's all... that .01% isn't worth the effort... no points will be awarded.

They don't need to. For ~20lbs is nothing for a girl in decent shape to carry regularly. So the idea that armor is too heavy for women is nonsense.

All videogame armor is just cosmetics anyway.

I just wish all male characters could wear bikinis as well
It depends. It is not all that needs armour. It depends on the theme, if its fiction or real life and the age its set in, etc.
As long as it suits the game/show/art it is all fine to me, it can be all from heavy to nothing.

You're not getting it, but I understand you don't ~want~ to understand... keep being mad though.. "sense" in a magical / SciFi movie? :steamfacepalm:

I might be a massive contrarian, but I often download mods to make female armor in Elder Scrolls V realistic. I always found female characters in heavy armor more attractive than those in skimpy armor, but that's just me.

What are you talking about? I simply pointed out full armor isn't too heavy for women. That's a fact. I said nothing about sci fi or realism, I don't care. I was responding to someone who said women couldn't wear it, based on an outdated stereotype about how heavy armor actually was.
