What is the best email font?
I like Times New Roman for reports at work, and I switched my email (outlook) font to TNR recently and it looks ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Wondering what your favorite fonts are and looking for suggestions.

Wingdings
Whatever the default is.
The default one, obviously.
That's gotta be calibri or times new roman.. I'm not sure which one.
Gimmicky fonts offer the superlative reading experience. The more it is unreadable, the better.

Or "Comic Sans" :winkkit:
Comic Sans
The problem with Times New Roman may just be that it's a Serif font, and serif fonts look nice, elegant 'n fancy, but have fine points that work better in print than on-screen. It might be less of an issue these days with the higher D.P.I. screens we have, but sans-serif is usually considered to be easier on the eyes ons-creen. Adobe has an article comparing serif and sans-serif fonts if you are interested in a more detailed outlook on the subject.[www.adobe.com] Sans-serif fonts are typically preferred for web-design.

Anyway, as a person who used to own an old Macintosh, and a fan of S.N.E.S. Suaresoft games (namely Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger), I do have quite a fondness for Chicago[en.wikipedia.org], which is a Sans Serif font, though I do prefer the original pixelated bitmap version[go.distance.ncsu.edu] over the more modern true-type version. Its a bold, practical and readable font.

I am experimenting with Lexend.

In fact, I am downloading fonts as we speak.
Helvetica

It is designed for specifically for print and web and has a large range of font weights and styles within it's family. The Swiss designed font is minimal with extended "stems" so the font appears elegant. It is common and popular for a reason.

Nothing gets your point across like Comic Sans.
Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'm going to try these out in some emails.
Keep some pointers in mind:

  • Some fonts are what I call "logo" fonts. They are great for all kinds of things such as logos. They are terrible for writing in.

  • We are judged by everything- and our email skills indeed are a factor. Font is included.
You will definitely get the utmost respect from your correspondent if you translate everything into Wingdings beforehand.
