Aesthetically pleasing open world games?
I'm not sure if there's really any game that fits in this category but I'll try looking for it anyways. I'm trying to find games that have beautiful visuals but you can just relax and explore if you want to. I used to love driving around in GTA at night while listening to music but it gets a little stale sometimes (+ the graphics are a little dated now). I love open worlds that feel lived in and have a calming vibe to them.

Breath of the Wild. Not a fan of the gameplay, but I think the visuals are a work of art.

I thought the dead cities/towns in Nier: Automata were nice, as well as the sunken suburb towards the end of FFXIII

They remind me of home, but nicer
stray is a semi open world game with you being a cat. It has a very nice visual, and doesnt cost too much performance.

Watch Dogs if you liked GTA.

Otherwise The Witcher 3, Red Dead Redemption 2, Far Cry or Assassin's Creed (later series). Some of the Star Wars (like Jedi: Fallen Order) or Horizon Dawn looks amazing.

zelda for sure. mostly wind waker for nostalgia (and I'm the only one out of everyone I knew grewing up who didn't mind the art style). I was a guy who also played Animal Crossing. Everyone thought it was dumb but I turned a lot of people onto the game. Why? Because relaxing and something just to pass the time for about 20 or 30 minutes.

But I haven't really played Breath of the Wild yet, not that much, just at a friends place...for like 10 minutes...and all I did was look around everywhere. It looked amazing. So amazing, that I didn't ever want to play it, because I could always come back to it later and still be amazed.

L.A. Noire
I really enjoyed driving around old Los Angeles listening to the radio.
Pretty darn cool.
A RockStar game so GTA feel is close.

Hot? Cold?
a little cold but that game still looks great for relaxing, thanks for the recommendation. i'm thinking more along the lines of either exploring a massive fantasy world or a city.

would you say watch dogs 1 is worth it still? i heard it looks really good with graphic mods. i was a fan of 2 and thought legion was okay aside from performance issues.

not really sure of the point you're trying to make. maybe gta graphics feel a little old because i've been playing the game for hundreds of hours. i'm not against older games/graphics because i care more about how artistic they are and how they feel to play. however, with this post i'm looking for games that are just pleasing to look at and that you can relax inside of. usually great visuals go a long way, especially if i haven't played the game before in the past.
