Genetically enhanced super-Germans of the South Pole
So the theory goes that the Nazis never officially surrendered after WW2 and instead fled to Antarctica where they had established a subterranean secret base. They had advanced aerial craft (flying saucers) called "Haunebu" that they used to defeat Admiral Byrd during Operation Highjump, which was a failed American-led military campaign to eliminate the secret German base. These craft are also the source of so called "Nordic alien" sightings. This breakaway German civilisation may or may not have managed to genetically engineer themselves into perfect Aryans, and they are ostensibly also space-faring, having bases on the moon and mars.

It's an incredible story. What do you guys think?

Isn't that a plot point of 1st part of Persona 2 video game?

Anyway...

(Flashbacks to Longinus 13 intensify)

And now it is time to attempt preventing Grand Cross and activation of mayan ship Xibalba.

In the film "Iron Sky" Nazis migrated to the moon. There was a sequel to it too.

It's based on these conspiracy theories.

Nazi Germany certainly had some really out there concepts for technology...but as for the actual quality and advancement of it. Well, let's just say they tried making rocket-powered aircrafts that frequently had catastrophic failures resulting in the pilots being dissolved alive by the rocket fuel.

They weren't as advanced as history fiction makes them out to be.

Idk man, there's "die glocke" which might have been some kind of prototype for the Haunebu. The Nazis were into some really strange stuff, I could go on for some time about what the Nazi occultists believed.

We know. You have.

It's a pretty fun story, in some accounts it also ties in with the hollow earth theories which are also very interesting. I don't think it is true though

What they believed is different from what they were actually able to accomplish.

Die Glocke was invented by "The Morning of the Magicians: Introduction to Fantastic Realism" - book from 1960. Apparently it's goldmine of outlandish theories.

Like all good conspiracy theories there's a little nugget of truth in there. Admiral Byrd did go to Antarctica, and when he came back he stated that his mission was military in nature, that his forces had suffered casualties and that we should prepare to face threats from the polar regions. The Nazis had also sent an "expedition" there just prior to and during the war. And one of their dudes stated that he was "proud to have built for the Fuhrer, in another part of the world, a Shangri-La."

I've also heard that they're searching for the entrance to inner earth, where they believe an ancient Aryan race dwells.

Like all good conspiracy theories there's a little nugget of truth in there. Admiral Byrd did go to Antarctica, and when he came back he stated that his mission was military in nature, that his forces had suffered casualties and that we should prepare to face threats from the polar regions.

The main purpose was to prepare for and practice techniques for cold weather warfare in polar conditions while being diplomatically far away from the Arctic and Russia - to avoid riling them up. Other goals were scientific by nature like: establishing a research station, investigating further potential base sites etc.
At the time there were fears, that Soviets may attack USA via Arctic region.
Regarding loses - USA lost plane during blizzard on Thurston Island; 3 navy man died. Also there was accident during unloading the ship but I am not sure, if it was during Highjump or later operations.

The Nazis had also sent an "expedition" there just prior to and during the war.

There weren't any expeditions during the war; just before the war there were Ritschter Expediton which had 2 goals: 1) science + photo-mapping 2) checking possibility of constructing whaling station to become independent of imports from Norway (that's why they claimed Neuschwabenland).

And one of their dudes stated that he was "proud to have built for the Fuhrer, in another part of the world, a Shangri-La."

It was Dönitz and except for the speech nothing ever happened about it. He wanted to build secret u-boat base in south atlantic but project was canned with start of WWII.
Quite possible is that he meant Station 211 (secret weather station) - which was located in Franz Josef Land - on the other side of the world.

Only country that had secret military expedtions there during WWII was UK - to contain Argentina and Chile claims in that region.

Edit: typo.

von Braun lamented the fact that the nazi leadership didn't invest enough money into his missile research. He wanted to develop rockets for space exploration from the beginning and would rather not have developed weaponized rockets but saw the V1 and V2 rocket programs as stepping stones.

The leadership saw the rocket programs as experimental and put less money into it than conventional stuff like more tanks and such.

The nazis just didn't have anything like Apollo. The Apollo program cost a stupid amount of money. The USA spent 340 billion dollars fighting WW2. The Apollo program cost 257 billion dollars.

They basically took these nazi rocket scientists through operation paperclip and then gave them a blank check and let them achieve all their wildest dreams with Apollo. It's actually really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up when you stop and think about it.
Acetyl Mar 20, 2023 @ 6:10pm
Paperclip scientists had expertise in a lot more than rocketry though.
