Poached eggs…
I usually hate poached eggs. Watery rubbish! Poaching eggs should be illegal.

Turns out, poaching them in salt water is just wrong!!

I recently discovered poaching them in a strong soup or stew instead takes them to a whole different level. Now it's one of my favourite ways of preparing egg.

What do you think of poached eggs?

Well it's just the only kinda work I've ever done. But I've learned from some really talented chefs. And I always try to work at places I could never afford to eat at. So that way I get to learn the really classy, fancy stuff. The worst thing they could order during a rush at my work anyway is like something gluten free, because that stuff burns fast so it really throws off my timing. And I've never seen that movie. I have a hard time watching cooking shows or movies because it's kind of a reminder of how stressful it can be.
gluten free is like pure protein or something? i really don't know much about gluten. but very cool that you are cooking with the talented chefs. a good culinary skillset is like an artform.

it's too bad that you dislike films about cooking, as i was just going to recommend another of my favorites. A japanese film by the name of "Tampopo:"

I'm not entirely opposed to watching movies about cooking, I'm just not crazy about them, but I hear good things bout them often. And that scene was really wild. The symbolism wasn't lost on me. :MICHIO:

Ha ha, I'm not sure about food and romance, but I guess stuff like syrup works in some instances. :er_uwu:

Yeah I worked at a winery once where we did a Valentine's Day dinner and we made fake beach sand out of like brown sugar and salt and peppercorns and put it in a clamshell to be the dish for a dessert to go on. It was very cute.

oh that's really clever. i love those intricate desserts that are about creating a tableau that's all about the moment. it makes the memory something special. :bloodroselolli:

You are really showing of your toque. :D

Only Americans can come up with the idea of putting a fatty, egg-based sauce on egg in the first place. What could make this bland egg taste better? Spiced-up egg sauce! xD
I couldn't eat hollondaise with anything but asparagus or maybe staples. Merely the thought of eating hollondaise on an egg makes me sick.

Hollandaise is French/Dutch/Belgium. It's not spiced up either. It's basically a zingy butter. It's just egg yolk, butter, and an acid like lemon juice.

The US is not unique in putting Mayonnaise on Eggs. And Mayonnaise is pretty much egg and fat.

I know what hollondaise is, but Eggs Benedict is American. Also, there are a couple of flavour ingedient belonging into hollondaise, mainly lemon juice and spices.
Whether it is mayonaise or hollondaise, I find putting a big splurt of egg-based sauce on a single runny and otherwise bland egg disgusting.

Might as well eat/drink them raw

Edit: I bet peoples who like poached eggs also like oysters

At least oysters taste like something. Ideally, like sea.
Eggs poached in water just taste like… watered-down eggs.
No thanks, fried or hard-boiled, none of that Gordon Ramsay stuff.

That Gordon Ramsay soft scrambled egg is amazing.

For that matter, put it on a sandwich like the "Egg Slut." seen here in this video. It's amazing. It does take some more time to make. Like 10 minutes vs the 3 minutes it takes to normally cook scrambled eggs, but it's worth it.

you're probably not using fresh eggs. farm fresh eggs are delicious. you don't even need salt sometimes.

In Germany, practically all eggs sold are fresh. Whether fresh from the farm or garden, poaching them in water just waters them down. I don't see the benefits.
I only poach eggs in a broth, soup or stew since I discovered that.

Oh okay, so by that definition, that means eggs are vegan then, correct?

Egg poachers are just as bad ivory poachers.
