Can we talk about McDonalds?
Why is that place still popular in 2023?

It takes about 3 meals to make me full and that would cost $40. McValue bundle targeted for family is a scam.

I can barely feel anything after eating a fish or big mac meal that doesn't taste like a food and it gross me out knowing I still feel empty. It also gross me out seeing full of high school teenagers running things in there. I just don't trust them.

Whereas, a typical $9 greasy thick meal from a local burger or a kebab joint will instantly make me satisfied and bloated. I know for a small family business, it is important to make the food to their highest standard to keep their place afloat.

So, if I wanted to destroy my guts, it would be from a burger, kebab or a pizza joint.

Yet, every time I drive or walk past McDonalds, it is always packed and the drive thru always have 5+ cars in there. WTF? They truly must have an awful taste.

Fastfood is for the poor (this sounds weird I know) in the US.
It is actually extremely cheap in the US. In my country there are all kind of regulations on what they can sell, so the price of a burger is super high (I assume that is the same for you, most like a EU citizen)

So I understand that point.. Still here it is the poor, that goes for a meal there, the rich or well educated would never venture there, I would personally rather eat a road killed rabbit, then eat at MCD.

So to answer your question. Fastfood joiints like MCD still exist, because it is easy for the poor and enducated to go there and get a meal. They sometimes don´t have the resources and time to actually buy and make some good homemade meals.

Then you have the middle strata, that might go there once every 3 months, because their kids wants some toys. Those exist as well ofc, but they are not the reason the business thrives.

If you look at what their meals contains (even their salad) then you suddenly understand why it is more likely for you to see an obese American, than a fit one. (over 50% of the US population is obese)

In Europe there are more regulations, but the fastfood like MCD still has problematic contant.

There you have it.

Extra fun note.

When I think about MCD I think about all lower strata back in the medieval era, they also had to go buy or have their food cooked, often it cost them issues and in some cases their lives
This gets debunked all the time it's weird to see people still trying to claim it.

More rural neighborhoods live in "food deserts." Where they don't have a nearby grocer. They may have a McDonalds though. So yes, in that aspect, it can be true.

But groceries are cheaper than McDonalds.

Go see a nutritionist, go see take a home economics class. Learn how to properly use a microwave. Learn how to properly use a refridgerator. Learn how to properly put away groceries and clean vegetables/fruits.

These are not hard things to do.
True that I've had full service bar food cheaper then Mcdonalds but you said in another forum that you shouldn't go to full service restaurants if you can't pay an extra fee in addition to the listed price. That means since that isn't expected at Mcdonalds poorer people are allowed to go there without being considered terrible for paying the price they sell the food for.

I dunno, I've never really had a problem with McDonald's. I've ate at a lot of fast food places, and they've always been alright.

I know it's not filling, but I'm also huge, and If I wanted a real meal I'd go get some shawarma. McDonald's is a snack, always has been, but it's an alright snack.

I learned you can make a good home cooked meal with macaroni , flavoured spaghetti sauces and Parmesan cheese for under ten bucks and it well serve 4 to 5 adults
Yeah parmesan with pasta really work well, what i tend to do these days is buy Spätzles ( sort of pasta with egg in it but it's not italian you find these in countries around germany and there pretty much) some butter to put in the pan and parmesan and pretty much that's it and i have like 4 servings for 2 meals and it's like 8 € or 6 if you still have butter around. That's pretty easy to cook as well.

That was a poor attempt at being funny or are you seriously suggesting that you don't know what junk food is?

Junk food is a common term used to describe highly processed and calorie-dense foods that are low in nutritional value. They would typically be loaded with fats, salt and sugar.

Fats, salt and sugar? Sound like a weird sauce. :/

MacDonald's marketing and strategy tactics target youth and present quick and cheap meals. So it appeals to many people on a budget such as students. And those with kids get targeted by Happy Meal toys, fun mascots and playgrounds. Those on the run such as business workers get targeted by MacCafe.

In Paris they've made its restaurant higher end to cater for Parisians and in Tokyo, they've added timers to each order to present quicker serves to the Japanese. They know their demographics.

Idk but i stopped going to the McDonald in the frontier border in Germany because our order always end up being cold there and they forget stuff so we have to always go to the cashier and complain.

We have this amazing burger chain called Harvey’s in Canada. As long as they exist I’ll never go to McDonald’s.

Seriously, if you ever go to Canada order a burger and poutine at a Harvey’s. It’s so worth it

Also, in recent times almost all the voices in the commercials for junk food also happen to clearly be black. For an example, the recent Arby's commercials.

Okay, I don't like drama across threads. I'll block you if you continue.

And Fast Food or Restaurants aren't people's only options. People can cook their own food.
