Can we talk about McDonalds?
Why is that place still popular in 2023?

It takes about 3 meals to make me full and that would cost $40. McValue bundle targeted for family is a scam.

I can barely feel anything after eating a fish or big mac meal that doesn't taste like a food and it gross me out knowing I still feel empty. It also gross me out seeing full of high school teenagers running things in there. I just don't trust them.

Whereas, a typical $9 greasy thick meal from a local burger or a kebab joint will instantly make me satisfied and bloated. I know for a small family business, it is important to make the food to their highest standard to keep their place afloat.

So, if I wanted to destroy my guts, it would be from a burger, kebab or a pizza joint.

Yet, every time I drive or walk past McDonalds, it is always packed and the drive thru always have 5+ cars in there. WTF? They truly must have an awful taste.

Because it is still cheap, and is fast.
I just cook my own food at home.   ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Fast food was supposed to be a cheap means of getting something to eat. Currently, it's $15-18 for a SINGLE meal.

Gone are the days where you could feed a family of 4 for $20 at McDonalds.

Back in the day, when I was a child, I loved going to McDonalds because they had those indoor playgrounds and decent toys that came with the happy meals. The food was also quite tasty. A good place to visit for a special or rare occasion. I also miss the benches where you got to chill with Ronald Mcdonald himself.

I like McDonald's a lot. I like a lot the classic Big Mac and I also like many of the burgers that they make with typical ingredients from my Country.
Its food tastes really good and it is very satisfying, it's very nice eating there.

Big Mac lol, have you seen the thickness of the beef patties in there? It's almost nothing.

To feel fuller, order a Double Quarter Pounder. More beef in that one.
If you can eat a Big Mac and still be hungry, again, it's not McDonalds that is the problem.

That is odd I get full on like $10 of food.

Fastfood is for the poor (this sounds weird I know) in the US.
It is actually extremely cheap in the US. In my country there are all kind of regulations on what they can sell, so the price of a burger is super high (I assume that is the same for you, most like a EU citizen)

So I understand that point.. Still here it is the poor, that goes for a meal there, the rich or well educated would never venture there, I would personally rather eat a road killed rabbit, then eat at MCD.

So to answer your question. Fastfood joiints like MCD still exist, because it is easy for the poor and enducated to go there and get a meal. They sometimes don´t have the resources and time to actually buy and make some good homemade meals.

Then you have the middle strata, that might go there once every 3 months, because their kids wants some toys. Those exist as well ofc, but they are not the reason the business thrives.

If you look at what their meals contains (even their salad) then you suddenly understand why it is more likely for you to see an obese American, than a fit one. (over 50% of the US population is obese)

In Europe there are more regulations, but the fastfood like MCD still has problematic contant.

There you have it.

Extra fun note.

When I think about MCD I think about all lower strata back in the medieval era, they also had to go buy or have their food cooked, often it cost them issues and in some cases their lives
This gets debunked all the time it's weird to see people still trying to claim it.

More rural neighborhoods live in "food deserts." Where they don't have a nearby grocer. They may have a McDonalds though. So yes, in that aspect, it can be true.

But groceries are cheaper than McDonalds.

Go see a nutritionist, go see take a home economics class. Learn how to properly use a microwave. Learn how to properly use a refridgerator. Learn how to properly put away groceries and clean vegetables/fruits.

These are not hard things to do.

That's quite a haughty attitude for someone who habitually peruses Off Topic - the Mcdonalds of the steam forums.

In some countries, Mcdonalds is relatively expensive and looked at inversely (eg: like a trendy place to go on a date).

Yeah in France it has the exactly inverse popularity described by Darkie, it isn't exactly cheap or expensive however kind of a middle ground.
Raelic 9/abr./2023 às 14:24
You're wrong about the US too. You think you sound right so you assume you are right.
craigsters 9/abr./2023 às 14:27
I learned you can make a good home cooked meal with macaroni , flavoured spaghetti sauces and Parmesan cheese for under ten bucks and it well serve 4 to 5 adults

And you can get clover leaf slap jack tuna in water, drain it and add it to your kraft dinner or no name version of it

You can buy a frozen bag of sausage patties there 16 in the bag for $12 and buy English muffins and make home made sausage muffins and buy the cheese slices when the grocery has the crazy 8 sales, the cheese is half off during those sales

Some times the lean ground beef goes on sale and you buy the big package separate it to be used in your pasta meal

Subway cold cut trio sub used to be $7.39 for a foot long, it now cost $24 for 2 and a regular fountain drink

All the fast food places are charging too much now

In the US it's kind of the same. Generally considered cheap however more expensive then not going out to eat.
