8 GB VRAM wont be enough for 2023-2024 games?

hogwarts regacy, forspoken, resident evil 4 remake are a few games that struggled with 8 GB VRAM recently

All newest 40XX cards are 12GB and more, but it's expensive.

Blame scalpers that we can't have graphical improvement. It should have been $500 not $2000.

If the price is fair and right, we should be living in a 12GB - 24GB gaming world today. It's not games being demanding. 8GB isn't much if 24GB is available.

My guy I played RE4 with 3gb VRAM and currently playing through Stranger Of Paradise which requires 6.


And performance is fine.

It will be enough for 95% of all games and most likely 99% of all games if you are still using ancient 1080p resolution.

Ultra setting is made for promotional reasons and to future proof a bit (like 5 years down the road or more) The difference in visual gain form Very High to Ultra is often around 3%, but the system resources cost, go up to 25-50% more.

It is never worth it.

In most modern games, people would struggle to see the difference between high and ultra settings, some titles even medium, if they were not shown the sliders.


Going from ancient 1080p to 1440p (sweetspot) or 4k would be a much larger leap, than going from medium to ultra settings on 1080p

With inflation in mind, the prices are not that much higher than expected.

That being said, if people use 1080p anything around 3060ti would be a superb cards for years to come.
The problem is that people wanna go full ultra without understanding the loss of resources they get, for their little upside.. its not worth it.

The vast majority of people will be just fine with a card in the avarage/entry section xx60-xx70

the breaking point is still very far far away.

Can't say I agree on that. I used to play games on a potato laptop, I've replayed games on a better system, but the prettier graphics didn't immerse me more.
Immersion for me is the gameplay, story, characters, lore, world building, etc. Pretty graphics I'm used to after a short while of play.

immersive experience ,back in the day,when i started piracy gaming,i hear the little people in the screen talking english words,putting spells on me,and moving around in low fps,
most recent immersive experience i have is god of war 5,freya following kratos around,with that look on her face .
if hardware demanding is the trend,well dont half coc it.

On that note, it's annoying developers don't care about optimizing their games these days. They just expect people to buy new hardware to accomodate their ineptitude to optimize.

Some games will always struggle and it's not your fault.
Consoles uses a clustered memory where the memory and the VRAM work as a single memory card.

I know that from the old days, and i did not belong to the little people. When they barely advanced forward, they where seeying me teleporting from 1 spot to another. I even once got accused for cheating, cause they could not hit me. Nope i was dodging bullets without knowing. But in those days, my country already had fast internet, so i did cheat somehow. By searching for servers with a low ping for me but high for others.
