Does anyone else feel empty inside after finishing a good game?
I noticed whenever I play a really good game, or one that I spent a lot of time at, once the game is over I feel kinda sad, and empty inside, and it sometimes takes awhile to find a game that can fill up that hole again, and will start playing like 5 minutes into a bunch of other games and just get bored way easier than normal since some part of me is still trying to chase the experience of the game I finished, and anything else just doesn't scratch that itch.

I find when I know that I'm playing a game like that, I'll keep putting off actually finishing it so that I can enjoy it for as long as possible.

Is this weird of me, or do other people also get like that after a game they like? If so was there any specific games that made you feel this way?

Finishing Red Dead 2 left me as an empty shell for a good few days.
Yeah, sometimes. I just play more games to fill that void and hope that the next will be as good or better than the last.

Hmm, it's only happened a couple of times. But not very often. I can move to the next game pretty easily to be fair.

It is usually an RPG that will do this for me, the one I remember most is Star Ocean - The Last Hope. However, if I really like a particular game then I will play it again. Sometimes this will be immediately or more likely after several months. There are some games that I have completed many times but my backlog is enormous so I must stop this.

You feel that way because you are lonely. It is your brain telling you," this is the end of line, time to to move on" but in real life you may not have anything new or exciting to do.

Keep looking for things that you love to keep you going. Until you realise that there isnt really any finish line in life. Brace yourself, it will only get worse :SakuraiEmi_ordinary:

No, I think that you play too much story driven games because people usually feel that way after they read a book or finish a tv show.
At some point, after many years, I started to think that after you finish a game you don't get any actual reward but instead you lose something, the game has nothing new to give to you, and this was a bit sad and frustrating but at that point I was already used to play (and "exploit") games like Skyrim that lets you go on as long as you want after the ending so it was not a big problem. I just focused a bit more on this kind of games. And I still replay the more linear games that I like the most every now and then just because I like them so much.

Story driven games are by far my favorite genre of games, so maybe that's it. Though it's also happened with games that have no real story at all but scratched some sort of gameplay itch that was satisfying, like when I had an itch for stealth for awhile, and just wanted to sneak behind some backs and strangle them from behind. Though strangely I rarely ever feel that way after finishing a show or book. Maybe cause they lack the same degree of interact-ability.

Yes, with very few games. I then play them again immediately, try different things. Experemint with it and do crazy (crazier) things, just to see what happens. Until I am either sure I have seen everything and every possible outcome or until it begins to feel... strange. I then search for "similar" games, but put them off for awhile and either play something entirely different or take a break from gaming.
Had this with books, movies and series, too.
If all else fails, I can always try to write a parody.
Also good thing that there are a lot of other things one can do in life.
