I don't have a favorite genre, so I'll just post the comment I left in another, similar-ish thread:

Anything that revolves around the player: going on an adventure, exploring a world, building / creating something, overcoming challenges - all stuff of that nature.

I like games where the focus is put onto my actions and choices way moreso than the character that I'm playing as. This is part of the reason why I don't get into story-driven games nearly as much as other games. I love that feeling of creating my own story, and being able to reflect on it later.

modern devs can't do third person right aside from big publishers, the art was lost after fps became popular and those who make one are just so amatuer, not even an issue if money cause they don't know where to start, heck any random ps2 game would steam roll them.

For a long time, turn based strategy. Then I seemed to move to more Bethesda rpg, fallout and skyrim. Then went crazy with warband addiction.

In recent years, Fallout 4, Skyrim, Battletech and a lot of warband.

because they usually have a mix of everything i like in a game. PvE, PvP, open world, sometimes survival, crafting and building, leveling up your character, maxing out armor and weapons, etc.

Single player RPG (mostly Japanese rpg).

I prefer when it's something about 60 hours , if it's goes over that the story really need to be good and or easy to understand for me to finish the game.
