They go into it a bit. Only a few big name sub-reddit's are down and that has made the top page of reddit a lil wonky. Mini-minor subs are still active.
It's impressive they managed to all band together to do something like this, however it's only for 2 days. After that it's probably back to usual and nothing will change.

at the same time i see what happened after tumblr fell and the fallout on twitter was horrible
Say what you want about the community, but there's a LOT of really useful information locked away behind subreddits from people asking oddly specific questions. It'd massively suck to lose it all.
