what happened to unreal tournament??

i just reinstalled the "epic games" store to play some unreal tournament pre- alpha version, me against bots. the game was free-to-play. i am old and to dumb to play online. what happened is, that unreal tournament pre-alpha is no more available. the fun is over. does anyone in here know why or what this is about?

I remember playing unreal tournament 2003 2004,it was pretty gore.
a lot mutilations,I dont know why the IP is now derelict as it is.

They re-allocated resources on the project and moved staff over to work on Fortnite. Because Fortnite is popular with the normies and it makes lots of the moneys. So it died.

Epic Games has announced several classic video games will be taken offline on 24 January 2023, with service for these titles being sunsetted. On the chopping block is the vast majority of the Unreal Tournament catalogue, including the beloved original title, as well as the first three entries in the Rock Band and Dance Central franchises. Epic Games acquired Rock Band developer Harmonix in 2021.

After January 2023, players will no longer be able to take part in online multiplayer sessions, although many games will still remain playable offline. Here’s the full list of titles set to be taken offline in the coming month:
