It also depends on perspective. To me the mainstream media (Kotaku, Polygon ..) are toxic hypoerbolic non-inclusive extremists who want to gatekeep the news media surrounding games.
Gatekeeping by gamers are a necessary evil to prevent activists and corporate media from ruining every franchise and genre. The list of destroyed or damaged franchises grows larger the more influence these activists have.
I predict that in 2-3 years there will be triple-a game crash, because every triple-a game will be so inclusive (apart from featuring white men) and politically correct (apart from demonizing moderates, critical thinkers, and conservatives) that nobody will really buy them beause they are so generic, boring and soulless. As these games will focus on the poliical messaging, the gameplay will suffer greatly. In other words, they will be just like Saints Row 2022.
So Gatekeeping by gamers should be supported and encouraged.
That said, most gamers don't seem to care about politics and are blind to it, they just want a good or fun game that's worth their money and time:
Case 1)
Tiny Tina's Wonderlands was super-woke yet still sold well and rated well, because to most people who bought it, it was still a well-made fun game.
Case 2)
Hogwarts Legacy was fully "inclusive", yet still hated by the left-wing, ... and it still sold extremely well because if was a very good game.
Case 3)
Kingdom Come: Deliverance ... hated by left-wing people, yet it sold far beyond the developer's expectations, because it was a unique, interesting and well-made game.
Case 4)
Saints Row 2022 ... loved by activists, disliked by actual gamers. It was woke and inclusive yet was poorly made. All the political messaging and propaganda in the world did not save it. Because just as with movies and TV.shows, even if you have a socio-political message, you still need to make the effort of making a quality product in order to be successsful. That's what Hollywood doesn't understand, and that's what certain games publishers don't seem to understand.
almost missed your post lol (thought i posted wrong link). when i skim through topics and see one that amuses me in some way I'll read through it. I may post I may not then. If i do I will generally answer OP's question and hit 'post comment' and then click 'unsubscribe from discussion'. if i see something really 'special' i'll make a comment/reply.
but anyways, nah i don't re-read my posts generally. trying to ween myself off the forums (getting better). this is like the last forum I still even check, even on steam... I use to be heavy in a lot of forums like animenation, newsgroups, etc.
also thanks, You're amazing too.. lol
I'm pretty much a freedom of speech, expression and thought and games are protected under those.
uh. this isn't a left/right issue rofl.. also video games can and do cause real-life violence. i have seen 1st hand fights break out over video games. i have 1st hand seen things broken and thrown because of the anger/rage people have from video games.. i find it comical that 'gamers' act like this is a myth, when they 100% know its true and may have gotten violent themselves over a video game... lol.
took me 10 seconds to find this

violence
vī′ə-ləns
noun
Behavior or treatment in which physical force is exerted for the purpose of causing damage or injury.
Intense force or great power, as in natural phenomena.
Extreme or powerful emotion or expression.
stop. please.. with the muh vid30 gamzz kant cauezz da vi0l3nce..
stop forcing it
Some genres or themes in games may attract a certain crows more, than others, but "as a whole", people who play games are most the people you see, when going outside. Videogames are by far the most popular medium, even though it's still a very young medium and enjoyed by all slices of life...left, right, lawyers, doctors, adults, kids, the good, the bad and the ugly. The average gamer is the average person and as such, will have wildly different and clashing opinions.
oh man. the 'going in cirlcles' crowd.
the thing i like doesn't/can't cause violence.. no way. never.
so your telling me that if the person who just got wtf rekt in a LoL match then proceeded to stand up and bash their monitor in.. they would of done that if the screen was turned off and they were just sitting there? nah. dont buy it.
so your telling me when a team loses in a video game and then proceed to berate and yell and scream at the other team. the video game didn't cause that.. if they were all sitting at a cafe drinking coffee, they would just randomly start going off on each other? nah, don't buy it.
i live in reality.
certain things cause great emotion in certain people and create/cause a reaction and potentially a violent one.
'you' may be a robot, and in 2023 i may honestly believe 'you'. But to real humans 'things' can cause emotion and those emotions can be violent.
1. literally post videos of people reacting violently to video games because they are angry from paying the game.
2. nuh uh. nope. lalalala 'fingers in ears'.. nope. video games cant cause violence in people..
lol.. exactly why i'm coming to these forums less.. i just cant.. rofl. its just comedy. it has to be.
Would you prefer for it to be boiled or raw?
