What’s the most overrated sci-fi franchises?
For me, it’s Star Wars and Star Trek. People don’t give enough credit to space operas like Dune and Battlestar Galactica.

Starwars is so boring with its force this, force that. Why do we fight? different force. Why do we kill? different force, blah, blah. Why did you live when your not a jeteye/sith? force. force, force, force.
That’s why Rogue One was such a breath of fresh air.

That is until Darth Vader takes up the last portion of the movie.

Agreed, only episodes 1-6 are canon

I actually like the original movie.
I had no ideas there was a mini series before the recent adaptation!

Well, that’s one redeeming thing about him I guess
Harry Potter is not science-fiction, is it?

(The axiom being that science-fiction is not about good and evil.)

I just selected it out of humor
Starwars.

Because its not even mainly about aliens and humans fighting

Its just the human fascist government getting its reactor port blown up by another human rebellion, its literally just humans VS humans, as a matter of fact its so much just humans VS humans that all of the movies only have human villains and human heroes along with humans being freaking target of every planet destroying weapon fired on the big screen, seriously both worlds nuked in the movies by the planet killers were entirely moments of humans being killed off and didn't involve aliens.

At best, the first movie had aliens and that was only because of the freaking racing part and later on when Hutt was involved, yet both of those two parts were so short and show aliens being clueless fools that one alien crashes into the rocks he's raced in before out of the gate and Hutt dies to two robots with the IQ of sentient toasters.

EVEN STAR TREK HAS ALIENS AND THEIR NOT PUSH OVERS, HELL THE BORG IS SUCH A THREAT TO HUMANITY AND YET THEIR LITERALLY JUST SENTIENT LEGO

Darth Maul wasn’t human and he was a Sith Lord. General Grievous was a major antagonist too and he was more machine than alien.
Star Wars cannot be science-fiction either, because it has to be something else according to the axiom. Considering Star Wars uses the same system of duality as most Harry Potter and Lord of the Ring books, (in example: good versus evil, force versus power, light versus dark, or chaos versus order,) to drive the story. As in, the story resolves around the notion of having a conflict (or struggle) between two (or more) parties because they are each other's opposites, or because they are in each other's way, and that forms an important part of it's storyline, and why the story is taking place. Apart from The Hobbit, which seems a magical treasure hunt.
Or maybe Star Wars can be labelled as science-fiction regardless of the axiom? But then where does that leave other science-fiction stories that use a different (or less polarizing) orientation for it's main themes?

As far as I know, there's no rule that says that science-fiction has to take place in the future or in outer space. It's only what an audience generally assumes when they hear the term "science-fiction."

I think Star Wars is a magical war story (that happens to take place in outer space,) but I am not sure about how to name such a war story exactly, and how to categorize it logically, other than calling it a "magical war story."

I always viewed it as space fantasy with sci-fi label slapped on to it to make it seem cooler.

Yes but Maul was a Dathomiri who are in turn classified as, by the shows own creators, Near-Humans. Their not Humanoids, no no no the lore classifies the Dathomiri as NEAR-HUMANS: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Near-Human

And the Kaleesh.... (You know, Grievous's race) is literally the default Lizard People. Seriously their lore is literally "The merciless lizard people from the wilderness of space" which I can't name a single space syfy that does not have one (or several) such as Old Ones of Warhammer 40k, literally hostile lizard people who created..well everything, The Covenant in Halo are literally based off of hostile lizards by their own writters, then we got the Gorn for Star Trek, we have no series nearly free of "That hostile lizard race that are super strong yet super evil" trope.

And Starwars is so full of tropes it may as well be called StarTropes

The Original Trilogy is just a copy of The Lord of the Rings in space.
