What’s the most overrated sci-fi franchises?
For me, it’s Star Wars and Star Trek. People don’t give enough credit to space operas like Dune and Battlestar Galactica.

Dune and BG aren't franchises.

Eh, Dune is a trilogy of books so it counts

It was Star Trek, but Star Wars is catching up very quick. If it wasn't for STD, it would of in first place.

Frank wrote 6 books. Many others have wrote additional ones. 26 total.

Cool! I heard the same thing occurred with the Ender books as well.

Dune is not really sci-fi. Or at least, it's the softest of sci-fi.

You could replace the factions with wizards and elves, and the planets with kingdoms, and have the exact same story.

But then, I suppose it is sci-fi in the sense that sociology and ecology are sciences.

Battlestar Galactica is nice. And if it´s only the sheer amount of lights, blinking and moving for no reason...

That's just the old version. The "comic book" version.

Yes i know - i´ve seen the newer ones as well. Including the spin-offs. But nonetheless i think that many of the characters in there aren´t very convincing. Which isn´t bad - i like the series as a whole. I even played the game, even if it´s super-repetitive. Still unsure if it´s underrated. Don´t think so. Star Wars is overrated, because they overdid it at some point. Same as Star Trek.

Starwars is so boring with its force this, force that. Why do we fight? different force. Why do we kill? different force, etc. Why did you live when your not a jeteye/sith through x event? force. force, force, force.

Its like power fantasy and skyrim in space, luke you are the dragon born.
