if thats the case, super mario 64 is the best. however, super mario world has far more content, so super mario world is still the best.

I'd say 64 is top of the list, followed by SMB3, then SMW. I don't quite consider Yoshi's Island to be a "mario" game, the yoshi series is kinda it's own thing.

super mario 64 was a huge deal, many consider it to be the first 3D platformer that didn't suck.

I was never a big fan of it and always preferred 2D mario.

Mario paint for me.

the best super mario game is super mario world.

super mario 64 is garbage, if the game had a good camera then sure it would be the best, that said it was one of the first 3d platformers.

Super Mario Galaxy is best in my opinion

Eh, not really. Wouldn't really put it in Top 5 either tbh.

In my opinion, the original 64 is outdated as hell and barely holds up, it wasn't even the best mario game at the time. I barely played the remake on the DS so I can't really speak about that game's quality.

Not only did it get surpassed immediately by its competitors (Crash Bandicoot 1 released a few months later, and imo is the much better game) but you had games like Super Mario World which were a perfection of a formula.

Yeah, 64 tried something new with transitioning Mario to 3D. Problem is, it didn't do a very good job at it. Mario games weren't a metroidvania or exploration based, so why they thought to change mario from the linear platformer he always was into an exploration based platformer will always puzzle me.

It's not a bad game, but I wouldn't necessarily call it good either. It sits comfortably in that lovely space of "yeah it's playable, but that's about all it is"

I loved mario n64 on n64

but I HATEDDDDDDDDDDDD the remake of it on gameboy. I consider it the UGLyification of the game to make it more IP-like. Such as making the plessy dino in the remake go from generic dino to ugly yoshi head.

And splitting up the powers, because you added different characters besides mario just made it more tedius, not fun imo

But I honestly can't say what the best mario game is. Since I've only played up to mario sunshine. Which was okay but it didn't relly feel like a mario game to me.

New Super Mario Bros. waves for attention.
Do you mean the DS one or Wii?

Cuz both were neat but Wii was better.
