I do not have any sister, brothers, nothing nothing... But i like keep forgetting what step sister are, like i still do not know anybody who even has one (or at least mentioned said person...) :V
Don't have a step-sister as a result. Even if I did and assuming I wanted to, I'm pretty sure she would not consent to such an arrangement. Plus even though it's technically not incest, I don't live in a state where incest is legal and thus there is a good chance that there might be some law on the book proscribing relations between step-siblings or step-parents and step-children.
Some states which like most locales ban incest have laws on the books along those lines. The two that don't ban incest are IIRC on the East coast and not even in the South.
Rednecks marrying their cousins sounds a lot like the North projecting when you really think about it, Whitakers nonwithstanding.
Ahhh finally understood it...
Ok that explains why I do not know anybody with said type of sisters or brothers.. :v
Now when I think about those TV series of them showing secret attractions, I can't help but there's some truth along those lines.
Right?
Then, mating is allowed only from third degree ("kissing") cousins and further away. Anything closer than that, whenever not considered "dirty", actually hides dangers for the "result" of the relationship.
Genepool needs variation and as much distance as possible, from relatives, even half-blood ones.
In many if not most places such laws only apply to family members with whom you are genetically related. In other words, such marriages may be legal.
Similar story with step parents.
Woody Allen married his former partner Mia's daughter - not legally his step daughter, but still cringey as Woody and Mia were together for over a decade beforehand.
But why marry her when she lives with you already
The TV series based on the Flowers in the Attic books?
