For me, making threads about "why do political threads make me cringe a little?" make me cringe a little...

Keep scrolling and move on... just saying. :tigerinablanket:
Just a little? You're tough.
Becuase it is...
Simple as that... 🤷

Is one of those arguments that do not do anything and lead to nowhere :steambored:
Way too many of them, these are quite overused. You want to escape from everyday's political drivel, but you can't, because people keep bumping those threads to 1st page.
Also they use "everything is political" as a lame excuse. Do they even ramble about that kind of stuff to random people on the street or something like that? Honestly, sounds like a sure way to lose few teeth.
You have a conscious.
A free thinker! Seize them!

*Whispers in your ear like ASMR* Play along. It's just for show.
I cringe harder when I see politics in video games.

Like that quest in Outer Worlds where you gotta help a female crew member get a girlfriend.

That's not even the slightest bit political.
You don't find the appeal in politics.. Most people don't.
The ones who do are paid for it, but people in general do hate the topic unless they're benefiting from it by being involved in one way or another.
politics are cringe...?
mainly the fear mongering
Possibly because you want to deny the profound effect that politics, especially corrupt politics, can have on your life?

I certainly avoided politics in my youth, but then I started wondering why some things were suddenly forbidden and other things became prohibitively expensive.
Because were all nerds here
It is clear that rhetoric is not bound up with a single definite class of subjects, but is as universal as dialectic; it is clear, also, that it is useful. It is clear, further, that its function is not simply to succeed in persuading, but rather to discover the means of coming as near such success as the circumstances of each particular case allow. In this it resembles all other arts. For example, it is not the function of medicine simply to make a man quite healthy, but to put him as far as may be on the road to health; it is possible to give excellent treatment even to those who can never enjoy sound health. Furthermore, it is plain that it is the function of one and the same art to discern the real and the apparent means of persuasion, just as it is the function of dialectic to discern the real and the apparent syllogism. What makes a man a 'sophist' is not his faculty, but his moral purpose. In rhetoric, however, the term 'rhetorician' may describe either the speaker's knowledge of the art, or his moral purpose. In dialectic it is different: a man is a 'sophist' because he has a certain kind of moral purpose, a 'dialectician' in respect, not of his moral purpose, but of his faculty.

🤷 The topics don't (usually) make me cringe, as I find it interesting to see other people's perspectives. What I usually find cringe-worthy is...
• People who cannot think critically or independently enough to form their own opinions, so they just align themselves arbitrarily with a side/opinion.
• The way (some) people treat one another when it comes to political discussions (i.e., name-calling, harassment, etc.).
If someone can't have an intellectual and civil discussion - despite difference of opinions - than that conversation tends to hold little value to me... & that applies to any subject, really.
