some nights are game nights, 2-3 hours tops on various games, depends on the mood
Exactly this.
But for me, even some " game nights " don't feel the same anymore. I constantly have thoughts and scenarios in my head that distract me from really diving into the game I am playing.
When I was 12-16 I talked about the game with my friends the whole day, then I came home and played the game until late at night or even morning hours, this was like my second life, living on a boring god forsaken country side village.
Now I work, have family and when I am lucky I get a few calm hours at night to play my game when wifu and kids are in bed but feel exhausted, tired and think about stuff I gotta do the next day, have done during the day or remember how gaming isn't the same anymore.
Generally gaming was a way for me to really turn off my brain and just enjoy, nowadays I can't really focus anymore. I still enjoy playing, but its not remotely the same anymore. Plus I keep thinking what a waste of time it actually is lol.
" to be fair what gets me is the anxiety and uncertainty of life, also stuff i can't do which disappoint me extraordinarily, all these reasons are more mental than physical at this point i feel like life's hell at times which is why i can't really shift my focus on games.."
Yeah, this is how I constantly feel. So same as you, I start feeling guilty while playing.
Well yeah, 30 is not old at all..nor is 40 or 50... Especially in modern times where people generally get older due to advanced medical care and due to people just " starting " at a later age.
But you get the grasp.
this reminds me when i took a big break from all gaming in general, it was around 23 till 28-30.
university, army later on, other stuff around, work, they all played a part.
but it's natural, you may need to focus on these aspects and thoughts @ the moment.
you also have a fam to take care off, i'm just working and in a relation atm w/out kids.
so it kinda allows me to have that luxury as well.
I guess we are only as old as we feel ! I definitely feel how I am getting older, my body recovers a lot slower and I have a pinch or itch here and there, that I did not have before.
Sounds similar to my life really. Worst thing is, after the army all the shooter games have become pretty boring to me, nowadays I try to distance myself from military related games as much as I can. I still play shooters and enjoy it, but I take it with a big pinch of salt lol.
I can't surround myself with " clans " anymore who speak as if they are real soldiers, use a rank system and all act " tacticool " it makes me cringe.
If I would be alone, I think I would perhaps have another relationship to gaming as it would be a: " Come home from work, be alone in your flat and start your PC " kind of thing.
My a... and back hurts because I have become too fat and I have flat feet. This combination, flat feet and weight, causes me to have a little pain here and there, especially when I walked a lot or sit too long.
it is as you say, lifestyle change would help with that, I am on it.
Yeah... GETTING.
I am certainly getting old, because I don't really know how to find any purpose in your comments. You don't even write full sentences. lol.
