Thinking about becoming a pirate but dunno what wood to use for a peg leg

Long story short, laid in bed and just thought how sick it would be to go out and find some treasure, see if there's any mysterious caves out there with curses that need solving. I've made all my pirate stuff but I just realised... If I chop this leg in half, what wood should I have delivered for the peg leg?

I don't want anything weak, I want strong wood that can be used for a very long time in cold, wet conditions.

Pirates are already real. Legends are told to warn people so I guess study the sea legends and head there but watch out for the real pirates. Kraken are squids so if you see a long living ancestor of a squid don't forget to take its picture.

Those aren't real pirates, they're just people who sometimes do sea crime. I doubt any of those pirates have touched any cursed treasure.

well for a start, the pegleg is a thing that happens when you take a horrible injury or suffer scurvy and have to amputate the leg. you dont cut it off yourself, its a battlescar of the life you lead to that point.

i'm sure there is cursed treasure, somewhere.

fair enough.
rather than wood, how about running blade. Modern pirate require modern pegleg
