Do you think the concept of reincarnation is evil?

I mean the idea that you forget and lose all your loved ones and that your soul is forced against your will to go back into a physical body in an imperfect universe sounds pretty malevolent, no matter how much you argue about how it is meant to teach you lessons. Also, I’m referring to the classic concept of reincarnation, not the New Age concept of it where you have a choice in the matter.

This is just a thought and not intended to be a slant toward any religion.

Reincarnation? Eh no not really, cant say thats evil to start with because usually those that believe in reincarnation dont believe in good or evil to begin with, you die, you die, you get reborn.

Its like the most simple of way of saying "Life has birth and death, one day you'll die and be reborn as a cow, deal with it and some crying that you got bullied at school Grage!"

As a concept? Not particularly. Just because somebody thinks the world is a certain way does not mean that person is evil. Not any more evil than the thought that gravity is going to keep us stuck on this rock until the diameter of the earth will expand to engulf the earth into a fiery demise. The notion that reincarnation as a force is quite awful is not exactly new though. In Tibeten Buddhism there is a scroll painting The Wheel of Life[www.gesar-travel.com], which serves is a graphical diagram of Samsara, which depicts animals depicting the three root evils in the center, the Six realms of Samsara, and the Twelve Bardos which represent stages in the reincarnation cycle. The pig represents ignorance, and naturally, if there was a past life you forgot, then you are ignorant of it.

On the back of it you have some big scary lookin' three-eyed pig nosed gannondorf deity with fangs holding up the wheel and chomping on the back of it as if it was a giant cookie. That is Yama, the god of death and his chomping away at the back of the wheel has been described to me as him devouring it to represent the impermanence of the cycle and that it'll come to an end.

The end goal for Buddhists has always been to achieve enlightenment and bring about the end of suffering altogether, which for some denominations includes the cycle of rebirth. That necessitates pointing out unpleasant realities if need be. Now whether or not this is actually reality is questionable, but the Buddhists believe it is. The world is how it is, and there is nothing malicious about trying to see it for how it is.

You can not have salvation without peril.

can you really say it's you who's being reincarnated at that point?

The past and the future do not exist, they are creations of your ego for the sake of its own self-preservation. Only the here and now is truly you, and you are not your self.

Like Hell is just the Underworld, Satan is Hades, God is Zeus (Or Jupiter), the Arch Angels are the other gods, heck the Kingdom of God is literally just Mount Olympus, and the entire story of Jesus is part story of Hercules and part story of Baldr from the Norse, which is even called Dying-and-rising deity in just outright book writing now.

Like not many people grasp Christianity is a mashup of past religions, like devil literally means diabolic in Roman...IE, one who is Evil...that should tell you how far they bothered to even go with words.

Rome didn't speak Roman, they spoke Latin.

As for THE devil, his name was "ha'Saitan" in Hebrew. The rest were just plain ol' "saitan", which also meant "adversary" or "lawyer".
