If you ask to remove bacon from your burger shouldn't it be cheaper?

I bought a burger yesterday that comes with bacon, I hate bacon so I asked them to remove it but the burger was the same price. Doesn't it just make sense that it should be cheaper? Especially considering bacon is probably the most expensive ingredient? Or am I just crazy for thinking I shouldn't have to pay the same price for less food?

Look at it this way: It is actually easiest/most efficient for them to make the same product the same way each and every time. It is also just generally inefficient to allow custom orders in the first place. But allowing custom orders does bring in sales they might not otherwise make, so they allow it.

So while you might be reducing the cost of ingredients in your burger, you're introducing an inefficiency into the process by customizing your order. The price you pay (both for your specific customization and, more generally, for the ability to customize your order in the first place) is the money they save from not using that ingredient in your order.

(That aside) Ultimately, the best way to look at it is this: Is the price you're paying for the burger-without-bacon still a price you find worth it? Seeing as you still bought it (and I'd assume you were already aware you weren't going to get a discount for removing the bacon as there are very few places that do as such) - that would seem to indicate 'yes'.

It's interesting that they charge you more if you want extra ingrediants though, if I wanted EXTRA bacon and not NO bacon they would have charged more a lot more so it's just stupid that this didn't discount my burger, friggen every burger they sell has bacon on it it should be option they should ask "do you want bacon on that?" like they do with cheese!

IF for any reason you actually wanna eat with your friends and he wants double bacon just them as normal and move the bacon to his burger. They will def charge extra otherwise.

Most burger joints add them as additional optional costs: bacon, pineapple ring, or extra cheese, etc.

Or they have various different burgers to pick from: cheeseburger, hawaiian burger, or bacon cheese, etc.
