In Hindsight were arranged marriages really a bad thing for society?
Given the divorce rates, people being unfaithful because they date tons of people before marriage so they feel more "theres plenty of fish in the sea, if this person doesn't check every box I'll go to another person" as in today people may pair bond very weakly since they date and end up with so many people before finally "settling".

Your parents should know you more than anyone else, and when you were the retirement system and not the government they tried really hard to raise you right and pick your partner very carefully, because if they did wrong, old age could be a nightmare for them.

And people would be much less likely to divorce as you'd be turning your back not just on your partner, possible kids, but your parents and their better retirement, unless you remarried which under that system would be less likely.

As well as all the time people waste dating, trying to impress strangers, over paying on things to look attractive to fetch the best partner possible.

The family courts, and all the other systems that grew so powerful, grew so because of ease of divorce and people chasing new butterflies all the time.

Collapse this collapse that. Most people who scream about collapse are political propaganda trolls or conspiracy nuts.

Well when there’s no more children to replace the boomers I guess AI will have to do all the work and then everyone can live like me.

AND THATS A GOOD THING!

Arranged marriages are still a huge thing in other parts of the world where the birth rates aren’t plummeting so that tells you something

Bro look at the debt. Its never been that bad. This isn't saying a comet is coming at midnight. This is saying reality is waiting to set in.

We had riots over tiny things, over single people. Now imagine if the debt forces food stamps and everything to get shut off. We can keep inflating the money as long as the rest of the world accepts it. And brics is the world starting to say "no, we don't accept it anymore. We don't want to pay for your civilization's failures any longer".

And maybe brics fails, but theres smart people behind it. Time will tell.

Eh, maybe you should ask the women that were forced to marry...
Forced marriage mean i also as a man would be forced to be with a woman and it's a no, i have no time for this.

Cause guys love getting arranged as well? If you watch stuff like 90 day fiancé the guys don’t like it anymore than the women half the time.

That’s their society tho.

The question isn't, is arranged marriage good for "you". Its, is it good for "society". Not about on the individual level, but society as a whole.

Because obviously if you get matched to someone you can't stand its bad for you. And vice versa

Lot of things that might be good for society are godawful for individual level, doesn`t mean that we should turn a country into some nightmare regime just to make sure that "society" would thrive. It`s extremely slippery slope as history has shown repeatedly.

I just put "arranged marriages in america" into google and saw this

Sep 27, 2022 — In the U.S., while the divorce rate hovers around 40 or 50 percent, the divorce rate for arranged marriages is 4 percent.

I didn't think we still had some here.
You really hit the nail on the head here, and this is part of a larger "find yourself and just figure out it, man" attitude that the boomers have towards life. How to cook, how to maintain a home and a car, what the proper role of a man and woman is in a relationship, and many other things that boomers learned from their elders, they chose not to transfer to their own kids because muh individualism. Not only that but now many gen Xers and millennials don't have that knowledge to pass on to the zoomers even if they wanted to.

One bad generation sent us from FDR conquering the world and being a fabulously wealthy nation to third world banana republic with shantytowns of homeless drug addicts in many large cities and double digit inflation in a single lifetime.
