When Sony adds backwards compatibility, that will be the day.
Xbox users may play old games, but they are few, not a majority like Playstation users. If Xbox users were the majority, they wouldn't get the 360 store shut down due to no one buying. They may be buying disks, but digitally, they aren't doing it.
Or simply, Xbox doesn't care and would rather not deal with paying to keep the store up, so they shut it down, and then the online services come later.
The 360 will always be one of my favorite consoles, so many great games.
No one wants to change a battery. It easier to have it built in and just charge the controller. As for music cds no one's use cds anymore. It all about digital.
In the future maybe they will make 360 legacy console and have a cool eye catching design to it.
One is better for ease of use and not having to fiddle with stuff like specs or compatibility issues (consoles) and the other is for having a bit more control over your system and games, at the cost of nothing being a guarantee (PC)
Speak for yourself. I have a Playstation 2, 3, and an XBox 360. I have a gamecube as well.
I have not played my 360 in about 2-3 years, so if I lose some games I probably won't get mad about it, but it still sucks.
This has always been the case, it's not "nowadays." Hell, the PS2's had a sticker on them that said you void your warranty if you open the panel the sticker was on. At least the first playstation you could mod with a spring and a swap disc.
Let's not pretend there's a standard here. Nobody knows what will happen if Steam ever shut down.
Most of the games that aren't available anymore on Steam aren't available because of the devs. Not Steam.
The Devs control almost everything related to their content, including their individual message boards, prices, etc.
Activision is famous for putting out licensed games and then not renewing the license so you can't get the game anymore, like their Transformer line of games, and Deadpool.
Of course what you're really crying about is Windows 7, which you should have moved on from long ago. Either way, OS is irrelevant with consoles, which makes it a totally different issue.
I have yet to see a rechargeable battery that lasts as long as a regular set of AA batteries. At least in the aforementioned consoles.
That's a bit disingenuous, don't you think?
The gap is small because most cross-platform devs are developing FOR consoles and then porting to PC's.
360 servers lasted a hell a lot longer than any Nintendo console’s
PS3 will be next, and then it’s the end of an era
I need to buy all the gamerpic and avatar items I wanted so brb
Sony already shut down the PS3 store a long time ago, but they brought it back because they made money from it and a lot of people complained.
A lot of consumers still buy and play the PS3, unlike the 360.
The PS3 network won't be shut down because they would have to create a new network for newer PlayStation models. which they haven't done, but on the PS3 network, just like the 360 network, there is high risk when playing online games, and the companies won't think twice when you get banned because someone modded you in the game.
Microsoft shut down the original Xbox because it created a new network system. Playstation hasn't created a new PlayStation network to shut down PS3. If they tried shutting down the PS3 network, it would also shut down PS4, PS5, and PS3.
But that doesn't mean Sony won't shut it down at some point, just the online portion, and add a warning saying online games are no longer working; do not buy online-only games, or simply remove all online games from the store.
Or shut it down completely if they can update the network for PS4, PS5 to a newer PlayStation network.
Except for the game banning part, I knew that
As long as you don't play online games on the PS3 or 360, you will be fine, but if you do and you get modded, you will be banned the same day, weeks, years, or years later and they won't unban you.
